His size isn't the issue right now. He's not really bigger than last season. His conditioning is the issue and it doesn't look like him or the team are going to get it sorted out in time for postseason play.

Absolutely a connection between size and conditioning. It'd be really interesting to see what his body temp is after coming out at the 6 min. mark. As a corollary, you see this in football all the time where a lineman can have equal or better 10yd dash times than running backs or linebackers, but the further they go the greater the difference is in times. You also don't see a lot of +200lb distance runners. Pels/Zion just need to find a balance.

If the right deal is available. Jarrett Allen is playing so well that we might not be able to able to afford that trade.

But I feel certain that Griff wants to upgrade the center position.

Hey the guy is actually showing up and playing this season which is a great start. He should be in game shape and dominating by the end of the season for the playoffs.

On the one hand, it's ridiculous that Zion's conditioning is still not where it needs to be, and that's hurting the team.

On the other hand, it does seem to be very slowly improving throughout the season.

But we still don't have December 2022 Zion halfway through the season, so I don't feel confident that we're going to get him back this season. If we did, we could be contenders, because that guy was a top-ten player in the NBA.

Crystal ball on Zion just continues to be very murky.

How much of this is Zion’s conditioning, or how much is Ingram being on the floor also

2022 December Zion was the leader of the team while Ingram sat on the bench, he doesn’t have that luxury right now. I still say, Ingram sits we see a different version of Zion come out

Are you getting to the point where these two just don’t fit together as much they try to make it work? I feel thats where I’m at right now. They just seem like an awkward fit.

The way the team constantly falls apart against pressure, I don’t see how anyone can feel this is the right path. I’m sure the Front Office is torn because Ingram does more of the off court leadership things like working hard to improve his game and not having public personal drama. But that isn’t going to lead a team to a title.

The fit can work, the problem is being 1a and 1b imo.

Zion is afraid to step up and shoulder the team with Ingram on the court because he and Ingram are friends and he knows Ingram is pushed as the leader and has always been pushed as the #1 of this team.

Either Ingram has to be traded for the sake of the team, or Ingram has to go to Zion and say “This is your team, take it”

I can NEVER see this happening. When Wade did that to Lebron, Wade already established himself in Miami. If anything, I think theres this underlying current where no one wants to be second fiddle to the other. And frankly, BI is not a 1A. This organization doesn’t help matters either- the continuous push for BI as the alpha is just getting silly.

Are they really friends?

I think it's simple. Trade Ingram.

It's all about money and flexibility. His number is going to be too high.

Zion's contract isn't even guaranteed.

Best friends absolutely not, but you can see them clowning around together all the time. Definitely an improvement over previous years for sure

Yeah I applaud BI for trying to do things the right way but I agree with you here’s a guy who’s about to hit the prime of his career, about to get a huge contract and has basically a first round loss and 1 all star game to show for it. Thats not remotely enough. At the rnd of the day its performing and winning big against the better teams- yet BI never takes over or shines. I think any other team would highly consider trading BI but we won’t.

He was playing at Top level and still needs to make progress. But the season is LONG and really starts once you make the playoffs. Unfortunately, play in and lower seeds rarely win it all.

Huh? They made the trade 2-3 days before the draft even occurred.

They’re replaying the interview right now.

Griff actually said leading up to the draft it was pretty clear their targets wouldn’t make it to 10 which is why they decided to move down.

Have to think they were looking at Mobley, Kuminga and Wagner
