There was no “bro-frick”(whatever that might be).
It would be petty not to greet and acknowledge AD if you coached or played with him for 7 years.

You're doing a lot of Straw-manning. Greeting someone you've coached for about 3 years is a hell of a lot different from welcoming him into your locker room.

yall?

I’m just me here pal, and I have not once said the problem is Gentry and Jrue don’t hate AD enough.

If that’s the interpretation you got from my posts, your problems run much deeper than I can fix, and it probably starts with re-starting where you left off after abandoning the 5th grade.

I said pretty clearly that I have no problem with Gentry/Jrue being cordial/friendly before and after the game, it’s the indifference, if not outright undermining of the factors I mentioned[in posts before] that I take issue with.

Once across the Rubicon, do you go to Waggaman or just stop at Harvey?

You have your right to have a opinion. Every thing you say is crybaby this and crybaby that and we should trade him and fire him. You never really use any intelligent backup to your comments just sound like a crybaby. Other posters acknowledge that you have to be really sharp late in games to beat guys like Ad and Lebron not you.. Just cry and then say ignorant things like they shouldnt be bro-fricking going on.

You are one of a very few who give anything close to a shite about what Jrue or Gentry did after the game. This board is not a representative sample.

Hmm, let’s see, my main points:

quote:

It’s concerned observation, not emotion at all.

I see a really solid, young core, with good character guys, that I don’t want to end up like so many before that get poisoned by an apathetic or dysfunctional leadership culture and vets that ingrain toxic beliefs and send the wrong signals to our next generation of players.

Stunting that teams development. See the Suns til this season....Or the AD situation.

Remember, one of the ear worms that set off all of the AD drama was Perkins talking up his heyday players, selling AD on Lebron’s greatness, and throwing subtle jabs at the Pelicans organization. He was initially sold as a vet presence under Demps that would provide what Griffin now terms sweat equity, but was instead subtlety, and likely not intentionally, poisoning the well of a fragile locker room that had not found an identity of it’s own yet but was told these are the people you should be letting mentor you about the league

quote:

Keep in mind several of the core players on this team are only here because AD and LeBron essentially used them as leverage for their own purposes, by way of signaling they aren’t good enough, now, instead of focusing on the team that just endured a tough loss in their biggest, most emotionally personal game of the season, you are inviting the guy that stole your lunch to come into the locker and commemorate about the good ole days with a coach that signals his priorities aren’t you right now.

quote:

Maybe someone like Zion sees this and thinks nothing of it, or, maybe, like Perkins did with AD, it puts the thought worm in the back of his head that jilting a small market to force your way is an almost consequence free play. That Jrue and Gentry signaling personal loyalty above team loyalty, and embracing a dispassionate competitive spirit the moment the buzzer goes off has no lasting effect, or, maybe it undercuts a little of the culturally competitive team first mentality Griffin wants to foster and Zion and others initially carried over from college.

....why test the theory though when it can and should be avoided?

I can’t believe they kept this clown to resign Anthony Davis, then Davis left anyway and we STILL kept him. Mother of god

Do you think the team is particularly upset that AD was allowed into the locker room briefly? Never mind. If they weren’t furious,
I guess that would reveal a lack of character on their part.

The lack of sensitivity to how fans would feel about it is what chaps my arse.

Judging by the damage control the multiple pelicans employees I know are doing this morning I’m most certainly not.

I’m so sick of Gentrys friendly arse. No competitive alpha mentality with this team since Rondo/Boogie. It’s a team of bitches. Let’s hope Zion is an alpha.

I said it in another thread, but this would be a bubbling scandal and part of the hot take machine today if this happened in a market with a greater beat writer presence.

If Boston were struggling again this season, and just lost a close one to the Nets, and Kemba was out there swapping jerseys immediately after while Brad Stevens was inviting Kyrie back to the locker room for some heartfelt moments, while the rest of the team was anguishing in a close loss to a player they have raw emotions about, riot police would need to be called to escort Stevens out the building. The Boston press would be calling for Stevens resignation and be speculating if Kemba is the right leader for this young team anymore.

This is a conversation that’s not worth our time and energy. Or at least it shouldn’t be.

I don't get it either. If the organization wanted to be friendly they would have had a tribute video, but the decision to not have one likely came from the top, Gayle herself or Griffin. Either way, Gentry's stunt countered that decision.
