i advocate the granny shot for centers and PFs who just can't shoot.

for guards and most forwards, the jump shot. any NBA player should have no trouble hitting 60% from 15 feet from the goal when unguarded. one reason some players suck from the FT line is (among other things) a lack of momentum. most jump shooters like to take shots coming off movement. you add in that movement by taking a jumper. in Austin's case, it's at least worth a try.

just my opinion. i think he just needs to sit at the stripe all summer. he will be fine.

Honestly, I think more than adding a jump shot to his free throw stroke, he needs to correct his form. I'll see if I can dig up my old Pistol Pete tapes to send to him. He did a great job not only of describing proper form, but explaining why it produces results.

This. If he hits his FTs and can finish with a little more regularity, he is a legit starter.

he will be a legit bench player for sure.

also, hopefully he starts getting a few calls. dude gets no love at all from refs. i'm very impressed how he never mouths off though. he always looks straight to monty rather than the refs. signs of maturity.

Definitely a problem for several players on our roster. Vasquez hardly ever gets calls when he attacks with his runner in the lane.

Only the 'superstars' get those calls

it's not even that...it's the fact that they are getting legit fouled (not just tapped on their way to the basket). they get hit and fall and still don't get calls.

he's been disappointing...hope he can put it all together at some point..

he's had some bright spots with tenacity on D and getting into the lane on O...needs more consistency

Rivers can get to the basket at will and when he gets stronger he will be able to have more control and make those tough layups easier. Example look at james harden. When he goes to the basket he is getting slapped constantly and the ball never moves from his hands. That is why he gets and ones so much. Also we have seen him make the three at times and that more consistently will be deadly in the future. The major thing he needs to improve on is his free throw. He would be so much better this year if he was a better FT shooter. His defense is very good at times and he gives a lot of effort! this guy could be special if we give him the time to develop.

I usually think that calls even out over time and that most complaints are bullshite. But, jeez, the Hornicans have been dicked when it comes to officiating in most games I've watched this season. I know, I know. Whining. But honestly they've gotten jobbed in a couple of games.

And I think there's better than a 50/50 chance that Rivers turns out to be a good draft choice. Even if he's a consistent player off the bench, last year's draft would be pretty damned good. When I look at who was available at #10, I don't exactly see a ton of guys tearing it up that we realistically would have taken instead of Rivers.
