LINK

this is a total player ratings for rookies this year its takes into account defensive and offensive statistics to create a "rating"

obviously its not full proof and doesnt tell the whole story but they have Rivers ranked at #14 amongst rookies

remember that time everyone was going nuts over Thomas Robinson because we assumed we would get the 4th pick? Or people talking about Meyers Leonard? They are ranked according to this graphic 22 and 24

Or what if the Raptors would have drafted Rivers and Monty would have grabbed Ross, Lamb, or Kendall Marshall?

Think if our future was
General/Roberts
EG/Ross
Aminu
TRob/Ryno
Lopez/Smiht

that couldve easily happened

anyway i got away from my point: AR25 is not doing that bad he is progressing and with AD playing well the fan base can say well if Rivers doesnt make an impact at least we got AD in the draft. If our only rookie was Rivers think of the microscope he would have been under

I like the progression of the Rivers, AD, the General, Ryno, even Aminu and Lopez have played better than I thought...love our Hornets/Pelicans, bright future, losing sucks but I hope you all enjoy the ride as much as I have

That list looks pretty skewed towards PPG, but most "efficiency" ratings tend to overvalue scoring. That said, Rivers isn't a big scorer, so it wouldn't work in his favor, anyway.

Rivers has played good D for us in most games but he has had some lapses. I think he will grow into a pretty good defender for us. I think a full offseason of weights and FT shooting can go a long way. He gets to the rim a lot but instead of drawing and-1s he is going 0/2 or 1/2 from the stripe...which sucks.

As long as his form stays the same, he's going to always struggle to consistently hit free throws. I know he doesn't think he needs to change his form, but he doesn't have the height and stupid athleticism to overcome it like Marion does.

I know...but if he can get his average from 50s to ~65 percent. That would be huge. I am more concerned with him finishing layups though. He is a very bad finisher after contact.

definitely right but that will come I mean Durants first year the Sonics were 20-62 his second year after they drafted Russell Westbrook they were 23-59 and they both were about 95% healthy that entire time

I am by no means saying we will be the Thunder but I am saying that even a team like the Thunder went through tough stretches

I'm not really disappointed with him. I was, but I think I expected too much from him.

He is what he is. He may get a little better (he's already improved on D this season), but he'll never be much more than a bench rotation guy.

And that's fine, not everyone can be Kobe out there.

everyone forget he had surgery on his ankle which derailed his off-season training. Everyone will see a major improvement next season

no, it began with Hal Greer in the 60s with the 76ers. Which is something I've said all along that players that struggle at the line should resort to. But few do because it wouldn't be "cool." i had no idea about this kid from Wisconsin.

They would be better off going "granny shot" than jump shot.

i advocate the granny shot for centers and PFs who just can't shoot.

for guards and most forwards, the jump shot. any NBA player should have no trouble hitting 60% from 15 feet from the goal when unguarded. one reason some players suck from the FT line is (among other things) a lack of momentum. most jump shooters like to take shots coming off movement. you add in that movement by taking a jumper. in Austin's case, it's at least worth a try.

just my opinion. i think he just needs to sit at the stripe all summer. he will be fine.
