Ruler - agree, Celtics know how valuable Marcus is, but they will have to do it b/c of the potential to have AD.
It would be different if roles were reversed and Brown was already signed and Smart wasn't. JMO

No they will not have to do it. Boston know NO will not turn down a package of Tatum, Brown, picks etc. NO most certainly want Smart, but Boston will not give him up. He's too important to the team's culture; and they won't have to, due to other assets

Don’t underestimate Griffin. I think he is capable of playing multiple front offices to ratchet up the bids for AD to get exactly what we want given that multiple teams are feeling pressure to trade for AD lest they miss out on other players (or lose ones they have like Kyrie or LeBron).

Bro, the guy is a Celtics fan just spewing biased opinions. It's not better than what you'd find on the Lakers' forum where they vastly overrate their own talent, too.

Washington isn’t really a possibility until they get a GM.
They need a major overhaul and they have a lot of high quality assets (Beal, their own firsts) without a lot of small assets to be used to balance things out (seconds, good young players, etc).

I like Smart, but i honestly don't care about getting him. I'd rather the picks and Brown, and turn that into a better player.
With both the Lakers and Celtics, I want the main player, Tatum and Ingram, and then i want to use the other players/picks to get better players from other teams, while keeping a pick or two ourselves.

Id be a little suprised if Pelicans dont get 2/3 from Boston. Im talking about Tatum, Brown and the Memphis pick. I trust Griffin to make the best trade for team but seems like we should get two of the mentioned pieces.

I'd tell Ainge not even to bother with trade negotiations any further without Tatum and one of the other 2 involved in package.

Yep I’d say no deal unless all 3 are involved

I agree. If you can't include Tatum and one of the Brown/Memphis pick, then we aren't negotiating any further, and this deal is a gone pecan. Do not care one bit about the 20th and 22nd pick, unless you can turn that into a useful player for me.
The Lakers deal would be better in my eyes at that point, b/c i assume they will give us everything we ask for. They can't afford to play chicken with us and try to get the best deal.

This assumes the Lakers are negotiating rationally.
Keep in mind their GM once lied to a blind guy so that one of his clients could double cross them and sign a larger contract elsewhere.

in all honesty, i almost prefer a Lakers deal. I would love to see AD go there and he and LeBron fail together. It would be very entertaining to watch.

Correct the Boston Motive is to try to make Kyrie sign back Just hope it gets done but we have until at least draft night we going to hear alot of leaks I’m hear for it

It would be entertaining but I hate the Lakers’ package of picks and players.
The Celtics have the best package of players in Tatum, Smart, and Brown. I like the Memphis pick, not so much the Clippers, Kings, or Celtics picks.
The Knicks have the best group of picks between 3 this year, their own picks, Dallas’ picks, and the ability to do pick swaps.
The Lakers have the 4th pick in a 3 man draft, a couple of injured players on short contracts, an a-hole who doesn’t want to play in a small market, and Hart.
Boston’s deal has a high floor and high potential thanks to the Memphis pick.
The Knicks’ deal has a low floor due to some of the players they can send out but potentially a very high ceiling thanks to the Dallas and Knicks picks plus pick swaps.
The LA deal has a middling floor due to the players being NBA level but not really spectacular, most of them coming up on new contracts soon, and the 4th pick being a bit of a crap shoot. (Ex - Why get Garland if you are keeping Ball? How long will it take Culver to develop? Etc)

Interesting alternative might be:
Tatum/Brown/Hayward with 17/22/Memphis
Doing huge favor for Boston, so they give us even more picks
Hayward has 30mil+ for two more years but oh the frick cares? Pelicans can handle that no problem with rookie Zion’s contract.
Plus Hayward will probably be 90%+ percent of himself next year in all likelyhood. That’s 16/5/5 on good efficiency and he’s another great playmaker. Plays the right way. And he’s be another great vet for Zion to learn under.
Hayward could easily go back to his all-star self as soon as next year as well. Maybe he becomes a long term fixture at NO if he likes it.
Boston would love it for obvious reasons so they would have to add to their package to make it happen.

Could get the best of both worlds. We take the Boston deal and AD bolts thus pissing off another fanbase.
AD shows up in LA a year later and an older Lebron. What a train wreck that would be

Hill goes to Boston if that happens or there isn’t even a discussion.

If LA misses out on AD, I think they blow their cap room putting players around LeBron or he will force his way out.
Normally a player under contract as long as he is shouldn’t be able to do that, but you know Silver will get involved if it becomes a PR disaster for the league.

I think you are undervaluing lakers players alot. IMO this is what you have.
Ingram- 22-24 ppg 6'9 wing with handles and length. Prized piece of the trade.. future all star.
Ball- will average something like 14-9-7 and will be a really good two way player. Perhaps a bigger and better version of Rubio.
4th Pick- Still a unknown but I trust Griffin and staff to take a good player.
Hart- Great rotation guy.
Solid offer and Id be fine with it.
