It's very true.

Luka is better than Zion. It's really not that close. Ask any non Pels fan, I'd bet that would be a 90%+ response rate in favor of Luka.

He's basically 30/9/9 every year.

Cuban has more intelligent in his little toe than the Pelicans leadership. No way he trades a Top 5 player for our 22 year old mentally weak pussy.

have no idea what a Zion trade looks like.

Probably some crap sandwich like KAT or Trae Young.

KAT just won the 3 pt shooting contest.

Young led hawks to beat beat heat at heat. he's played well under pressure. he plays better under pressure.

both played in playin.

zion did not dress vs wolves.

I'd rather KAT, as is, than zion and his emotional state and physical issues.

of the three trae seems best handling being in nba.

id still rather KAT.

Zion prior to injury was a leading candidate for MVP.

There's maybe 2 packages out there that can beat Zion + Picks. We say this all the time, the team with the better player usually gets the shittier end of the stick. However, in this trade, both teams still get a 1 of 1. Which is kinda unheard of.

If you dont think a healthy Zion is Top 5 player in the league, that can be another discussion.

EVERY single GM and team in NBA would say Luka is and has always and prolly will always be better than zion injury or not.

Thats debatable.

The dude just traded for a toxic player that essentially tanked his team. When they still had a shot at the play in he sat his whole team pissing off his star player.

From a basketball standpoint, cuban has proven over the years to hardly be a genius

I think one thing we're ignoring, it's not just Luka's value being higher than Zion who is always injured. Even when Zion is healthy, as good as he is, he is still decidedly not as good as Luka Doncic.

Really all that needs to be said. I think Pels homers would be shocked at how much more would need to be shipped WITH Zion to even have a serious discussion.

Zion doesn’t carry near the weight that this board thinks he does around the league (no fat joke).

idk to many teammates that would welcome a ball dominate player such as Luka but I think he would fit good next to BI. I actually think this would work nicely

Zion isn’t on the court enough now nor can any organization trust that he will play enough to explore trading for him.

No one will give up anything of value for him. He’s basically dead weight. Zero trade value.

shite, I'll trade BI AND zion for Luka!

Then we’d basically be what Dallas was before they got Kyrie. Decent/okay roster but no other stars next to Luka.

healthy Zion

Is an oxymoron if ever there was one.

quote:

If you dont think a healthy Zion is Top 5 player in the league

I don’t. And I’m not sure anybody but you and Zion and his family do either. Some people probably think he could be if he could stay healthy. But I’m not sure the list of people who think he can stay healthy is any different than you and his family as well.

There is zero chance Cuban trades Luka. He’s simply too valuable to that franchise even if they aren’t winning. But just to entertain this hypothetical, like others have said, you are severely underestimating what else we’d have to give up to get him. We’d have to give them Zion AND something close to what the Lakers gave us for AD. Or what the Timberwolves gave up for Gobert. Because you simply cannot count on a “healthy Zion” as one does not exist.

And this hypothetical still only makes sense if Luka is disgruntled to the point where Cuban has to trade him. And if Cuban is so pissed that he says “frick where you want to go, you’re going to New Orleans” and jeopardizes his ability to ever sign another superstar again, we may get 1 or 2 years from him before he forces his way out of here and we’re left with the worst roster in the league and no assets to get better.

Nobody with options is ever gonna want to come to New Orleans, and nobody here is ever gonna want to stay. Unless or until we start winning. We’ve simply GOT to figure out a way to make it work with Zion, whatever it takes. Or turn back into the Charlotte of the West, a franchise most people forget even exists until draft night.

Yea, no one is wanting to have that discussion because I'm not sure anyone believes Zion is a top 5 player when healthy.

He's elite. You can argue top 10, but there is no discussion/debate around top 5 to be had.

They weren’t doing anything anyway, and he threw a Hail Mary. It didn’t work for this year.

Luka will get over it, and again, another Hail Mary, hoping to get a higher draft pick. Even Mark Cuban, said to be the best owner to play for, that treats his players the best, that even built the best visitor’s locker room in the league just to show how much he values players, etc…—all that shite, and he STILL can’t attract elite free agents to Dallas. Dallas. We have no chance in New Orleans unless we are winning—conference and NBA championships—with home grown talent that others want to play with.

I was talking about the haul for Luka, who would definitely warrant a bigger return than Zion would.

1. we have to address fitness before this deal or any deal, could happen.
zion practices eventually.
zion plays summer league.
after a few games of 28 minutes and impressive numbers vs g league, rookies and undrafted free agents you sit him and do your deal.

2. re Luka. he is satisfied being the best Slovenian in nba. he came into camp flabby and 15 lbs of fat. Dngaf.
its a fair deal.
luka is a nice piece.
he's not shooting 50 40 90.

he's the best Slovenian and that's enough for him. he may not ever show up ripped or with a better 3 pt shot. his ceiling is now as is.
2. picks are devalued now because kids do not have to go to college 4 years.
its guesswork outside of 2 or 3 guys a year.
Tatum and luka went 3 because I wasn't a gm.
I had IDd them on this board .
