Dyson is going to be a next level PG and own the league.

He’s so fricking developed on D and decision making. His BBIQ is genius level and his shot isn’t bad. He can get to the cup and actually finish.

I’m super excited about his development. Imagine how good he will be in a April?

The fact the Pels took Dyson at #8 tells me they know exactly what their problem is...regarding how to become a serious contender.

If you ever want to get totally discouraged...list the Pels first 8 or so players come playoff time BY DEFENSIVE ability. Then compare it to just about any other serious contender. It's why the Celtics are most folks' pick to win it all. But, feel free to compare the Celtics/Bucks/76ers/Grizz/Warriors and Suns with the Pels, defensively. Then, take Herb or "future Dyson" off the Pels' crunch time lineup and it's pretty much a joke. The Pels know they have a huge problem in this area...even though many other folks don't.

Great article about Dyson, the upcoming games over the next month will be a good opportunity for him to showcase his defensive prowess and more importantly get a bit more aggressive offensively.

The accolades should in no way diminish what Herb is doing for the Pels. Because of his low key nature, I think he is being vastly underrated for his defensive acumen that I believe has been at an All-Pro level this year. Both Herb and Dyson are keepers and should not be evaluated entirely on their offensive production. Don't get me wrong, they both need to improve, however with BI and Zion as your cornerstones the Pels are always going to need some defensive minded dogs to balance the team.

Just curious, given that many here think Dyson is already as good defensively as Herb is and has a higher upside than Herb offensively...why is WG not giving Dyson more minutes?

I think Herb is better, but to answer your question, the kid is 19. Bring him along slowly.

Coach Green is old school in that he not only makes players earn minutes but is hesitant to take away minutes, particularly in the first half of the season. We saw this last year with Temple and Sato. Dyson is contending for minutes with CJ, Devonte, Naji, Jose, Herb and TM3.

I believe this month will help clear up the log jam concerning rotational minutes heading into the playoff positioning push. Just my opinion, but I believe Herb absolutely remains a starter, he generates more offense than realized with his defense that kick-starts the Pels transition game and off-ball movement in offensive sets.

Shamit made a good point about Herb as a starter. Zion being replaced by BI (hopefully soon) gives you another shooter making Herb easier to integrate into the offense.

I'm inclined to agree, and I think we'll also see Herb's offense pick-up. The more interesting development is where does Dyson's minutes come from? You really can't deny his talent, and personally I'd like to see the Pels lean-in and develop him as a lead guard that can be the option to relieve pressure off of Zion and BI. For all his flaws, keeping the offense fluid was an under-rated part of Zo's game.
