He is currently in full Ben Simmons mode, it makes him unplayable.

I mean even Ben Simmons was a 15-16 ppg guy before he lost his mind after the playoff loss.

Dyson has like 9 points over his last 7 games.

That offense is unplayable.

Think about that and then think that Willie keeps giving him regular rotation minutes. What other player gets as many minutes as Dyson with the same offensive production? Why isn’t Dyson being benched for his issues on offense like Hawkins was benched for his issues on defense?

More than just regular minutes, he's playing him in clutch minutes when the game is being decided.

I hope Dyson develops, but you can't ignore the facts if you are trying to win. Dyson's added value on defense does not offset his offensive liability. It's clearer than ever that in today's NBA scorers are going to score, no matter who you put out there on them.

So it follows, if you can't really slow them down, you need to put your own scorers out there to counter.

Willy's refusal to process or accept this reality is costing the Pelicans games.

I was crucified on here a few weeks ago when I noted that Dyson should not be shooting any 3 pointers based on his terrible percentage. He needs to be send to G-League and told to go dominate some chumps on offense.

There was one play, I think it was either against Phoenix or Utah, that he drove to the rim and would have had to finish over one defender and instead he pulled it back out and swung the ball to the corner. It was at that point I really realized that something has to change with his game. He's really good defensively (even though I think even that is a little inconsistent) but he's such a non factor offensively and so passive on that end I'm not entirely sure how much his overall impact is really felt.

You're still wrong now.

He either plays and shoots an open 3 or he should never play. The idea that he should play and never shoot a 3 is simply wrong.

It took you that long to realize that?

Dude is the most timid NBA player I've ever seen with the ball in his hand and it has been that way since the day he joined the team. The fact that he is so afraid to dunk at his height was a red flag from the very beginning.

Of course I had realized it, I knew what type of player he was when we drafted him. I guess the better way to state it is it was at that time I realized that it's an issue that likely wasn't going away.

Lot of similarities with Dyson and Lonzo on offense with how timid they are taking the ball to the rim.

Dyson's issue is even worse in that he's scared to even shoot a 3, whereas at least Lonzo was always willing to let it fly.

I know he's 20, I know there's time to develop. But I think there are some red flags going up now that make me question whether we'll see enough of an offensive game in the next 2 seasons to keep him around. Hopefully he proves that thought wrong.

I agree on this pretty much but one think I liked about Lonzo is he knew who he was and he had this grit/confidence about him. Elite passer and became elite 3 pt shooter. Also had leadership qualities. Its a shame he got hurt, because I feel Lonzo was just hitting this stride when he left for the Bulls- I also think he was one of the only guys that developed a great on court chemistry with Zion as well.
