disagree. The Clippers were still picked to win the playing that year, despite all of that.

Eh that was with PG13 playing. When he was ruled out- I think the percentage of winning went down.

That year, I remember guys hustling on defense, moving the ball, not taking any shite from CP3. The Suns were just better, and that's ok. It was a different vibe than it has been

Yes you’re right but that was playoff basketball. Just a different animal. Every team thats in the playoffs/play-in plays like that.

It was fool's gold as far as that team being good enough to go anywhere, meaning BI being good enough to be a number 1. This organization has held onto that for far too long. The Clippers two leading scorers (at 27 points each!) were Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris, two players who are no longer starter or rotation level players in the NBA.

We won two games in the Suns series. The first was game 2 in which Booker got hurt and still had 31 points in 25 minutes. The second was game four in which Booker did not play. The Suns still beat us twice in that series with no Booker.

It was a fun run but it was definitely not anything that we needed to base our future on. This organization decided that Ingram could be a number one after that run. I hope that they have realized this was a mistake before offering him a huge deal this offseason.

There's a bit of revisionist history going on here.

Post-CJ trade, we had one of the best records of the NBA in that stretch. So while luck was involved in some aspects, it's not like we were playing mediocre and got the lucky night in and night out.

Also, the mindset after that run wasn't as simple as "holy shite, we gave Phoenix a run in the playoffs, LETS RUN IT BACK!!!" Rather, it was "Hey, we showed some promise once we added CJ to the mix with a first year coach, lets see what we can do once we get him for a full offseason and add Zion in."

Whether we lost in the play-in or got swept by PHX in the first round, we were never going to change philosophies because we still didn't know what we actually had in Willie and this roster. There wasn't enough data.

Nah, we were better than we were before, but just ok.

We were 14-12 the rest of the way after we added CJ.

I think in the moment it was fun and felt real, and maybe it was. But looking back, all we did was go from bad to average, really.

There was definitely some record stat that AD and Joel kept throwing out the final week of that season.

We were 10-5 counting the play in, headed to the playoffs

Ah well, regardless, anyone thinking in retrospect that we didn't make big changes because we got through the play-in and took 2 from PHX is fooling themselves.

It would've been foolish to make drastic changes considering the, pardon the pun, Zion elephant in the room at the time.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I don’t think they should have made big changes. I do however fully believe that the organization, whether it’s Willie’s staff or Griff and his staff, put more weight into that playoff run and the last 10 games of the last season (which were largely unsuccessful) than they did with Zion’s December run minus BI. It’s why BI has been given the keys to this team. I think it’s also a big reason BI hasn’t changed his shot chart this year.

Maybe it was because they were afraid of Zion being injured again, but it is obvious they have made the wrong choice. The problem is, once an organization goes with one guy as the #1 it is very hard to change that and keep him. Hopefully they can work it out but it can’t be BI’s team going forward.
