so instead of 18M a year we did 12 and a late first

I'm fine with it. Onward and upward

For us only, did anyone else give up that much on a S&T?

There’s roughly a ~70% that your player drafted in the second half of the first round isn’t even a rotation player. And an even smaller chance that they are a rotation player for you long term. Late 1sts just don’t do it for me.
So suppose we are in the playoff hunt by the deadline. Not having this pick severely limits our chances to upgrade the team as not only are both of our 2022 picks committed, but we cannot trade the 2023 pick either as a result.

BUT WE SPENT A FIRST ROUNDER THAT WONT PLAY.

hey by those numbers — we can actually add a ROOKIE scale contract (8million/year) with the money we saved in signing him.

So all of you whiners can just know that we can take any of the rookies you all wanted so bad who are sitting on the bench and available and trade for them THIS season.

I be happy if we are in the playoffs tbh

Our own 23 pick would be worthless if we are trading for a superstar, what am I missing? We'd be trading picks farther down the road, just like we got back for our superstars. If someone is giving us a piece that's gonna move the needle, they are gonna want picks after that blows up, Not 22 and 23.

Except we have cap space and can add a real live tried and true nba player instead of a prospect. Because we have cap space and expiring contracts.

Cool

We've essentially traded 3 1sts the past 2 offseason and have Graham to show for it. 1 for Graham when no one else gave up 1sts for a sign and trade, and 1 for Adams then another to move off of Adams/Bled.

You're pretending that draft picks never provide important rotation players by simply not caring that we're way overpaying with these picks.

Not every trade is for a superstar.

I don't see any reason why we couldn't have had all of those things and a 1st.

Dude stop talking about last offseason. It was a failure. An abject clusterfrick.

This off-season has been way better. It is way better than staying fricked. Or worse signing an aging veteran to a big contract that keeps them from doing anything two years from now.

We still have picks, the product on the court will be way better

I wasn't using the swap. If you add Murphy, then we've given up 4 1sts the past 2 offseasons for only Graham and Murphy.

We still have no idea if that deal is operating as part of a larger deal.

If giving the first for Charlotte to not match means that we also get to sign Dinwiddie, I think it’s well worth it.

Or even better, Hield.

People said we needed shooting. If we add the 3rd and 7th 3 point shooters in terms of volume, would that be enough?

Sure, just 3 less with only Graham to show for it.

And again, we're the only team I can recall spending a 1st on a S&T today, I don't think anyone else did. We traded a player for almost double the salary who netted less on return.

I guess we're the only team that doesn't shite chocolate and spit rainbows then. Nailed it!

I don’t see anyone else getting under 7 million the projected cap hold though either.

You don’t see that Graham @ 11.7 + rookie scale contract = the value you seek?

I think that’s it. We giving them a first round protected pick so they won’t match. I think if we didn’t they definitely would.

They only got Rozier, Ball and Bouknight currently.

Outside of the ball deal, what other S&T’s have been detailed?
