I’m asking a question. If it doesn’t roll over
Then we either gave up a 1st but made the playoffs so who cares
Or we didn’t give up a first.

Anybody who watched him in Charlotte knows this guy is a scorer and shooter. Which is why I know a lot of the melters never watched a game

Another positive thing is that even if he goes to the bench, at that price, it’s still good.

THIS. Lonzo “hot potato” Ball has more than a touch of the Ben Simmons.
Graham isn’t afraid of getting fouled. He wants the ball.

Let's just be happy we didn't have to overpay a free agent for once to come here.

Lottery protected first and no one has yet to explain what happens after this season.
Does it become 2 2nds? The worst of a Pelican pick and Laker pick? A 2029 Bucks pick?

You either don’t understand how picks work, don’t know how many picks the Pels have upcoming still, or are drastically overvaluing non lottery picks.
Graham has about a 95% chance of being better than people drafted 15-30. The fact that he’s a rotation player getting more than 30 mpg assures that

And now that a team is being built that makes sense everyone is melting because they want the splash high dollar vet that would handcuff flexibility. Lonzo’s play is more consistent than Pels talk.

Most of us hated it. But tried to be optimistic from Zion’s and JJ’s compliments

I said IF he builds a 3 point shooting like Orlando around Dwight maybe it works. I watched the furst month of the season and thought they should’ve fired him right then

This board should be laughing its face off at some of the signings around the league

Jval+Graham+NAW is an upgrade to Bled+Zo+Adams. Plus we still have $20 mil cap space, plus the MLE, plus the BAE, plus 1 year of improvement for BI and Zion.
A slight net upgrade isn't really moving the Western Conference needle for the Pels though. Not when that slight upgrade is to a non-playoff team.
Nuggets, Mavericks, Suns, Lakers, Clippers and Jazz all have.a stronger case than us going into the season as the better overall teams. So that slots us into the 7th seed. Dame's clutch play and the Grizzlies steady synergy will likely be pests all season as well.
The problem is that this team needed to make significant progress, and we spent assets like a team seeking to do just that, but on the whole, when stepping back and looking at the league, you might be able to make the case we moved from play-in team to maybe 6th seed, but we're gonna need more than that. And this FA struggle just illustrated why a small market shouldn't be giving up draft capital recklessly.

Almost everyone complained of the roster construction and the lack of deals

Im glad we got him, and im happy with the contract, but why the frick did we have to give up anything to sign him? It’s not like we don’t have cap space. This makes zero sense right now.

First of all, it’s more than slight in my opinion.
2nd, did we need MASSIVE UPGRADES this off-season if you believe in Zion and other young guys? What about just improving fit?
Who could they have gotten that would have been some, massive upgrade?

Its very surreal to hear people trying to justify the shedding of draft capital as largely consequence-less by propping up the acquisition of a second rounder using a first.
Graham is proof of concept that being smart with draft picks is a valuable tool to help small market teams find quality talent and keep the pipline flowing.

quote:There was no need to give up any 1st. How many of all of the S&Ts gave up a 1st? Was Griffin able to pull a 1st from Chicago when it was known that they needed to shed about $10 million in the deal? We helped them for a 2nd. The Hornets drafted Bouknight. They were not going to re-sign Graham.
