The Clippers just traded arguably their best player while they're on the playoff bubble because they weren't planning to resign him anyway because they plan to get 2 max guys this offseason. Balmer dropped $2 Billion for the team without blinking an eye. He will be all in on trading for AD. An added bonus is if the Clippers drop out of the playoffs this year they keep their pick which weakens Boston's non Tatum asset portfolio. I don't really want the Clippers package but I think they leap frogged the Lakers and will push the Celtics to give a strong offer.

Is Bledsoe hurt?

I’d take him for salary purposes plus a sweetener such as a young guy or a pick.

Point right now is to get young prospects and tank the rest of the season.

Taking the expiring contract of an injured guy plus getting a pick or a young player accomplishes that.

Honestly, I think most serious bidders would leapfrog the Lakers if only because they aren’t trying to sell us a shite sandwich and tell us it is fine dining.

Trading expiring for expiring doesnt make sense for either team

also, Eric Bledsoe is the Bucks best guard and isnt hurt. They arent moving him and a 2nd piece for a 6th man type PF

You pointed out in another thread the Clippers bowing out of the playoff race makes the Kings more likely to get in, so that's 2 of Boston's non Tatum trade assets that this move weakens. I still take Tatum and stuff over the Clippers, but the Clippers having a real offer while weakening Boston's other assets really helps the Pels if Tatum is the primary goal.

Bledsoe and Maker (Maker isnt good, but better than Diallo)

Bledsoe
Jrue
Knox
Zion
Okafor

Or

Bledsoe
Jrue
Brown
Tatum
Okafor

Wouldnt be a bad team to build on as long as Bledsoe doesnt demand much money in a new deal

I don’t actually want Bledsoe if he is healthy.

I want injured players or shite players on expirings PLUS a sweetener of either a young player or a pick.

I’d take Teletovic but I think they aren’t allowed to trade him since he is considered medically retired.

Jason Smith is on a small deal and may be expendable if they get Niko.

Maker is the kind of guy I want as he has made it clear he isn’t happy with his playing time there. Not that we need a malcontent as much as he is on a rookie deal for another season and they don’t necessarily need him.

I don't see where the Clippers have top level players. Harrell is a nice player on a great contract, but SGA is a project.

It doesn't matter. The bottom line is they will probably be willing to give you all of their assets which in the process has diminished Boston's non Tatum assets which should put more pressure on Boston to include Tatum.

I want all the extra picks and players we can squeeze out of any deal because those can be flipped for other things, but since this team has no intention of starting a Process, it's really important to get a Tatum or Zion out of trading AD.

They have SGA, Harrell, Shamet, Gallo, Jerome Robinson (they are high on him but he's barely played), plus the two picks they just got from the Harris trade. It isn't anything jaw dropping but it could drive the other offers up for sure

And to piggyback, they still can turn Lou Will and Beverley into more assets before the deadline.

Agreed more buyers in the market mean that the asking price is driven up. I wasn't sure what the protection was on the Boston pick but now that I know, I'm sure Boston isn't happy with this trade.

I do think Harrel, Sweet Lou, Gallo, and a few picks for AD & Solo is a better package than LAL though not ideal because we get older & don't accumulate many future assets (Harrel - 25; Gallo - 30; Lou - 32). But It would still allow the LAC to have enough space to pair AD with say Kawhi Leonard.

You don't want Gallo. Wrong side of 30 plus injured a lot

I suggested Harris, Harrell and SGA a few months ago but that can't happen now
