excusing Griffin for making a series of incorrect judgements his first summer
The moves that dumbass made after making the #1 pick have potentially jeopardized the entire Zion era. And his fan boys always want everybody to “let it go” or “just move on”

Lol at you calling anyone a dumbass.

It was a mistake by Griffin. Now, let it go.
None of you all have to post in these threads, and every time I hear it from the same people that were licking Griff’s nuts(not saying you in this instance as you only hung out on the periphery in these conversations from my recollection, though did tacitly defend everyone piling on me and a few others) and trying to tear down Wood a season ago to defend Griff and guys like Meli and Okafor, or 6 months ago, or 1 month ago(when it was clear to anyone that had watched Wood he was the real deal), it simply screams out: “let it go because I don’t like having how wrong I was get rubbed in my face and want people to forget about it.”

A guy that was fighting, and possibly asked to be let out in NOLA after discussions with Griff and where Griff had placed him in the priority list after guaranteeing everyone else, wouldn’t have been able to be locked up on a team friendly Meli type deal or a Covington style extension?
Nah, Wood would have taken that in a heartbeat. A 2 year 4-5 million a year deal with a team option third for 6 would have been an EASY yes from Wood if we had simply scouted properly and Griff/Langdon not been so far up their asses about their supposed scouting prowess.
Which yes, would put us in a difficult situation this season and next because I don’t know Wood is worth what his market will look like under a scenario he wins most improved player, but he’d be a hell of a trade chip if we weren’t committed to him longer term.

Yeah, I didn't have much of an opinion on Wood at the time, because I really checked out of that season when AD made the trade demand and blew everything up.
And,yes, it's clear that Griffin/Langdon made a mistake in overvaluing Melli. But it's obvious that they also believed that Wood would compete under the contract he was in, which is definitely something that most GMs would assume.
And after Wood asked out, letting him go made a lot of sense, because building a new culture doesn't work when you have someone who's disgruntled and unhappy.
So, yeah, I will still maintain that you aren't looking at the situation rationally.

This is so true. I should start a thread about Julius Randle and bump it every time, since I was so upset when we let him walk for nothing. It's basically the same thing, right?

Well, for one thing, Randle costs 3/62mil compared to 3/41mil for Wood.
If memory serves me correctly as well, we couldn't sign Randle and sustain that money without being a tax team nor was there a market to 'get anything for him' before this regime took over.

Randle would have been considerably more expensive than Wood would have been at the times of both of their potential signings with us. We could have had Wood for relatively cheap, easily
But purely hypothetically could you imagine replacing Melli and Hayes minutes with Randle and Wood? And spending that pick for Hayes on a guy like Tyler Herro? So instead of Redick/Hayes/Melli you have Randle/Herro/Wood? shite we'd be a top 5-8 team in the west immediately
Obviously there's a million other factors that makes that scenario impossible, and also not sure Wood or Randle develops as well in that situation in NOLA as they have on other teams in that time frame. But its wild to think about how one really bad mistake on a roster decision by the FO can have a domino effect

According to Crewz, Griff let Wood go because he was hanging out with some dodgy peeps. Another guy who purports to know Chris denies this. Read more here
