re: Cavs give Evan Mobley a max deal. 5 years $224 million. Does that make Allen expendable?

I keep believing the BI for Allen deal makes sense for both teams. But so far the Cavs have stuck with their story that they are going forward with their core four--including Allen. It doesn't make sense. And I'm still not sure I'm buying their line. Let's see if getting Mobley done shakes things loose

I think it changed when Atkinson came in and said he wouldn't trade him. The gm, Colby, was ready to trade him.

I could see it being a deadline trade tho.

A deal is not doable because they aren't going to pay BI max, and he isn't going to agree to go to Cleveland on a 1 year or take less to go there (they probably won't even offer him as much as we would on an extension), and Cleveland won't trade Allen for a 1 year rental anyway.

It's a pipe dream people won't let go of. It was never going to happen.

The Cleveland gm was very much going to trade Allen until Atkinson came to town. He nixed it.

I'm not convinced any team wants BI even for zero compensation. His future salary and shot profile aren't winning basketball

I literally went through every team and do not see a good fit or where he makes them significantly better (for how much they have to give up for and pay him). All the places, that made sense, have made other moves and no longer have a need. There are always off the wall moves that happen, so he could be moved. I just don't see it right now..

A 3, 4, 5, etc team deal is not doable for the same exact reasons a direct deal is not doable.

No team is going to agree to pay Ingram the max right now, and they ESPECIALLY aren't going to give up comparable assets to do so on top of that.

Unless Ingram agrees to take less money, a trade is not in the cards with anyone.

If a team feels they are getting a deal or could flip him at the deadline for more than they give up now, he could be dealt. Would likely have to be a team like the Spurs or Pistons who are looking to accumulate draft assets if they have to move him later.
