well we aren't getting a perfect guy. there will always be a "yeah but" with anyone we acquire

the shitty contract should drive his price down to almost nothing. that's the positive spin on a trade. Beal would cost the war chest and Lavine would be slightly less. Buddy is a negative asset for SAC so we could get him as a stop gap (the positive spin)

Yeah I'm on the don't get Beal train. The upside isn't there for us

i disagree, BUT i understand we may have to settle for a lower-level player. the appeal of Buddy is that he should be cheap

if we really give up assets for him, it's terrible

Give crewz shite all you want but he had an intriguing idea that could do a lot of good for this roster and that’s trying to trade for Gallinari

Just curious, who would rather Ball over Buddy if Ball signed the exact contract Buddy was given?

Definitely would help with bench scoring.

Or has a piss poor attitude.

Or wasn’t 28 years old already.

I don’t understand why you guys want to give away assets for some success for this season with vet acquisitions. This team even through trades at best is a 8 seed lose in the first round team. Is increasing the chances of making the playoff this year really that important? I just think a lot of you are thinking way too shortsightedly. Unless we’re getting these guys for real cheap. (You’re not getting Galo or Hield for cheap)

The attitude is what worries me, not really the contract.

It’s not ideal, but it is a declining contract that goes from 24 this year down to 18 by his final year.

It's the exact thing we hated Dell Demps for doing.

If Hield actually is a negative asset and there's a world where we get him without giving up any actual assets, sure I'd gladly take him on. Otherwise, no thanks.

And I doubt Hield will come our way with zero positive assets going back, so there's that.

Do not want Lavigne.

I’d be torn on the Beall situation.

Buddy is exactly what we need but his contract sucks and he’s not a great locker room guy.

If y’all think Zion gives no effort on defense, gl with watching Hield.

Lonzo.

Even with his putrid start, Lonzo is shooting less than 1% worse than Buddy from three. And he’s better at nearly everything else.

Buddy can come in and be a JJ replacement/upgrade immediately, though.

Walton is a good young coach, Hield is better suited for a bench role because he doesn’t defend. Pouting after you got paid is a red flag.

He’s also 28 already(as he lied about his age which I see as a red flag).

I’d hate to see this fanbase divided over this guy, again. There are dorks insisting the Pels should’ve never traded him, (because they liked him in college). It’s one of the worst takes in Pels fandom.

to me it's more cycling contracts (and assets)

do you want to give a max deal to ball? let him walk? JJ is gone this offseason and we need to recycle his contract to be flexible in the future

etc

No one is giving Ball anywhere near a max and that includes the Pelicans.

I don’t know if you are right. If he continues this sort of production, Klutch will work a back door deal to land ball and whomever else to capitalize on the market and their client.

Lonzo is probably going to get 25 mil.

He's playing at an all NBA 1st team defense level and shooting 40% on 8 threes a game

That's virtually a max guy right there

There's no denying he's balling the frick out this season
