Either the front office loves BI's fit with the team and makes a solid extension offer before 10/21,

I cant imagine even BI's camp thinking this is going to happen. He has to play some games before we make that type of money move.

The Celtics are about to be in a very unenviable position with Jaylen Brown. And we have known from the beginning that the Pels could be in it too next year with Ingram. There is almost nothing worse than having a good, but not great, young player entering RFA.

Not necessarily. It could just be that his injury made him relalize he is mortal and it might be smart to pull a Steph Curry deal as soon as possible so he doesn’t end up a Nerlens Noel type tragic story.

Assuming he stays healthy...No chance. He’s getting paid. Unless he absolutely flops, I expect him to be a Pelican in 2020/2021.

Sure it’s possible, but players like Curry and LeVert who took the cheaper/safer deal are outliers. It is much much much more likely he risks it.

Without rookie extension deals at 6 PM ET, summer class of restricted free agents include: Brandon Ingram (New Orleans), Jakob Poeltl (Spurs), Thon Maker (Detroit), Malik Beasley (Denver), Damian Jones (Atlanta).

Pelicans opting to get a better look at Ingram when healthy before making a deal. Asked Ingram about this yesterday and he smiled and said: “Me and Griff talk. Me and my agent talk. We have good conversations.”

With Jaylen Browns contract, Ingram is pretty much going to command close to the max.

With so many players signing extensions today, there almost aren't going to be any free agents next year. The few that exist, like Brandon Ingram, are going to be in position to get big deals.

If Ingram is great for us and fits in, then he'll likely get a max offer, and we'll have to match it or let him go for nothing.

On the other hand, today's Zion news makes it less likely that, as we approach the trade deadline, we'll be in position to make the playoffs. And if we aren't going to make the playoffs, then the weak FA class is going to make Ingram worth more in a trade.

present that deal aloud.

I set the stage for you.
Buddy just signed 4 year extension. He can shoot.
Lonzo cant shoot.
Isnt he a liability?

whole lot of crossed fingers this year that ingram breaks out

in.which case they make playoffs even if zion 7 weeks out.

Jrue and jj are sure things.
You add another sure thing in ingram plus maybe naw is all that sooner than lonzo who at least plays d and passes well.

john hollinger:

Brandon Ingram, New Orleans (no deal) — Ingram was the second-overall pick in 2016, but unlike several of his brethren, he did not ink an extension.

While capable of periodic scoring outbursts, Ingram will need to demonstrate more consistency and a better fit with talented offensive teammates than he showed in L.A., and do it while returning from a dangerous DVT in his right arm. Note also that Ingram’s huge cap hold (nearly $22M) would effectively erase the Pelicans’ otherwise plentiful cap room next summer, and that positionally he seems an uneasy fit next to Jrue Holiday and Zion Williamson. A trade here can’t be ruled out.

That said, Ingram has positioned himself to cash in with a good year, as he could potentially be the best under-30 free agent on the board.
