Shooting form isn't really something you can change much. It's one of the first things that you develop as a basketball player and everyone is unique. You can try to change it, but your body is naturally going to go back to the form you've been using your whole life.
Not saying he won't get better shooting, but theres not gonna be some astronomical improvement

I'm not a huge basketball guy, but would someones shooting form be comparable to a hitters swing? Some guys have a natural fluid swing while others look like they are having a seizure.

that or a pitchers windup are good comparisons. its not what it looks like, but can you repeat the same motion every time.
rivers form isn't good, but his main problem is his mechanicsare inconsistent.

He can have shitty form if he wants. Changing it now may be a bigger setback than if he just continued perfecting his shot now. How a coach's son could possibly end up with that form and that bad from the line is beyond me, but changing it now may hurt more than it helps.
A guy like Shawn Marion has been more than adequate despite some of the worst form the league has ever seen.

Not really but I get what he meant!

In year two if he can increase his FT% and finish at the cup at a higher rate, he will be well on his way.
Just those two things can turn this kid into a 15-18ppg player. He can get to the cup almost at will. Finishing and converting on FTs will make a significant difference.

The reason we drafted Rivers is because of his hard work mentality, not what he'd get for us immediately. We knew he'd be a project.
Now it obviously started off worse than we thought but he's finally starting to figure out his role. I have no doubt that he'll be a successful backup combo guard in this league.

I see what you're saying, but we hear about golfers and baseball players changing their swing and it working out for them.
Normally I'd, probably agree with you though, but Rivers seems like he's hardworking enough to change his shot and be in the gym everyday for hours practicing it to make it better.
But I do agree with most here that he will be more successful in the league as a PG, so his jumpshot should be a little lower down the priority list

Coaches change young players' shooting form all the time. The best example is LeBron.

That's hard for me to figure out too. Maybe Doc just wanted to be a laid back dad and let Austin find his own way but it's weird how jacked his shot is.
