Jesus Christ the excuses people make for this guy are ridiculous. This isn't a high school kid who's getting in front of a microphone for the 1st time.
How is noting how good Gordon is at saying the wrong thing making an excuse for him? How is noting how close organizations normally are with their cornerstone players vs. how distant the FO appears to be with Gordon making an excuse for him?

I have ZERO sympathy for EG. He's pouted the entire time he's been here. His attitude sucks. he Begged us to let him sign with the suns. frick that dude, I really don't care if he plays another second with the hornets, trade his arse, don't trade his arse, I don't care. I will not support a player no matter how good he is if he doesn't want to be here. He's such a damn emo kid. /rant

- Because you have no idea if the Hornets have PR people working with him
- Because he's a player with years of NBA experience not a teenager, he should know not to crap himself everytime a mic is in front of him

That's probably because he's been in New Orleans for like three fricking weeks the last two seasons.

So any update on him being any closer to actually fricking playing?

His tweeting has improved so I think they are working with him, or someone is. But the chain of events were basically:
- Monty causes shite storm by implying Gordon is medically cleared to play but won't.
- Monty and Demps try to settle shite storm down but fail and then say it will be best to have Gordon explain the situation himself. I forget the exact wording, but it definitely felt like they were throwing Gordon to the wolves rather than standing by their star when the public was ready to turn against him.

What should happen and what does happen aren't always the same. It was documented that the Clippers had to push Gordon to do media and fan events. It was no secret that the Hornets were trading for a higher maintenance player, both on and off the court.

I've understood Gordon not buying in because of that reason, but players are assets, especially ones making as much as Gordon makes and that you go out of your way to proclaim as the best player on your team. This is not a normal star/team relationship.

What is the biggest crowd you have ever spoken before?

Well, you did a good job of avoiding a very simple question.

Neil Peart has been a professional drummer for about 35 years and he still avoids media. I guess Rush should kick him to the curb and find a more media savvy drummer like Meg White.

So Demps and Monty are supposed to chill in LA, Indy, or wherever else Gordon is when he's not in NOLA? They can't build a working relationship because they haven't really worked together because he's not here. It's not a normal star/team relationship because normal stars make more than fleeting appearances around their teams. You think if Durant got hurt in OKC he'd be 100% away from the team for months at a time?

FWIW Gordon wanted to rehab here but the staff set him up with a better option in LA since they couldn't devote as much time as they wanted to him alone.

Hundreds. Are you going with a he's just nervous defense?

The guy is clearly an introvert. I don't know what's hard to comprehend about it. He doesn't want to or feel the need to please saintsfan22.

Him being an introvert has more to do with the presentation of his words not the content.

Well as long as your pleased with 9/80. I'll keep watching him for the 20/100 race.

he just begged off the team because the media scared him into saying that.
He didn't beg off the team, he kissed the arse of the people that showed him the money.

His PR issues started long before that
Are you trolling me? First you say I'm making excuses for Gordon by pointing out that he sucks at PR and then you point out that he's sucked at PR for a long time?

No, but they shouldn't need to "catch up" only when they are in the same town to play a game. Monty was texting Anthony Davis regularly as soon as he was drafted.

I'm talking about his PR problems last season and this offseason, not just in this pre-season.

Who said I'm "pleased" with it? I just don't choose to bitch about it every 3rd day.

IIRC that was something mentioned in the most recent Demps Chalk Talk ticket holder Q&A. True or not it's the company line and they aren't going to say Gordon wanted to be away from the team.
Posted on 12/17/12 at 3:38 pm to TigerinATL
Yep, that's where it was from.

Marc Spears also reported the same thing shortly after he started rehab.
quote:
Gordon wanted to rehab here but Hornets sent him to LA so he could get full attention since training staff was busy with rest of team and could not devote full attention. He rehabs from 8:30 until 2:30-3:00 every day. CP3 had a similar weakness in his quad after his knee injury. Hornets trainers strengthened it and he has not had any more knee problems. He sought out the training staff during Olympic trials and thanked them for their treatment. Now Gordon's quad is 65-70% strength, up from about 10% when he went to LA.

Hornets medical staff arranged for Eric Gordon to have a more intense rehab on his right knee in LA starting this week. Still out 4-6 weeks.

quote:holy frick. if it went up from 10% to 70% in just the amount of time he's been in LA our entire medical/training staff needs to be fired and possibly water boarded
up from about 10% when he went to LA.
