Like I said I'm not complaining. Just a little greedy because I feel we can be even better and I have an idea of why we aren't, which is why I'd like to see to on/off splits with Adams.

Which is impressive when you take into account the enormous drop off in defensive talent that occurs when Hayes or Melli have been on the floor and Adams off.

The overall PITP dont get terrible, but they take a hit.

Fun fact, when we have replaced either Bledsoe or Lonzo with Josh Hart, our PITP drop to around 37 per 48 minutes. Which is incredible. All small sample sizes to draw anything too meaningful from yet, but it’s interesting stuff

Exactly, I was surprised when I looked it up.

Josh is playing like a top flight glue guy right now. Hope he keeps it up for the rest of the year/we can somehow hold on to him for the future.

What site are y'all using for individual guy's on/off stuff?

I think the one thing in our favor for getting Hart back on a decent deal is he isn't a huge scoring guy and isn'ta lights out 3 pt shooter (but decent enough). Teams love to overpay for scoring.

He may be more valuable to us than to other teams.

I was digging into the team/lineups/misc on NBA.com, adjusted to per 48 minutes to create an even comparison between our overall PITP numbers as a team with how individual 5 man lineups perform

Edit: wouldn’t recommend taking a whole lot from that stuff about Hart though, more just interesting to look at, sample size is really small and all, plus you have other variables.

I dug into the defense in today's podcast: LINK

It's really hard to contest the three point shot in the NBA, even running guys off the line doesn't really work. So may as well protect the paint--the Pels do a good job of limiting shots at the rim but not a good job of forcing misses there.

Thanks. Didn't realize they updated that website that much. Been a minute since I really been on there.

The NBA site updates daily and is an incredible tool for stats.

I listened this morning and at lunch today. I had happened to hear that Lowe talked about it so I had heard that first before yours.

Yours was much more in depth analysis as usual.

The stat regarding the amount of actual contested 3s in the NBA was eye opening.

This is not meant to throw stones at one or the other, but which do you prefer between Locked On and In the NO?

I feel I just can't take any more pods on right now, just too many in the pipeline. I listen to In the NO, but never heard the Locked On.

Locked On by a lot, and that is not to suck up to Jake or anything.

I prefer the short form, daily podcast. Jake does them 5ish times a week so they tend to be far, far more to the point, with much more of an emphasis on data. I also appreciate that he essentially does a table of contents at the beginning of each podcast.

In the NO comes out too sporadically, and they are long and rambling. I don't mind that either and listen, but Locked On is a much better resource.

Pelicans Plus is another decent one, more similar to Locked On.

Appreciate it! That's the goal. Lots of the national media is REALLY good. But they don't have the time to be as in depth and nuanced like the local media are. It's one of the reasons why I love what we're doing at Locked On. It's not a knock on anyone to say we know these teams better than the national folks.

And, yeah, many stats need context. Saying the Pels gave up open 3's doesn't tell the whole story. EVERY team gives up open three's. And explaining the issues around some of the numbers is important.

There are actually a lot of good Pelicans or related podcasts right now. I don’t have time to listen to all but I thought about starting a thread linking a bunch of them.

It’s more a NOLA podcast that snarky covers a bunch of things, but the one Kushner does with his buddy is highly entertaining. Kush does not give a single frick.

Admittedly I'm going to complain about both, but I agree here. I don't like that In the NO just comes out whenever. Of course, not bashing the dudes, just saying.

On the other hand, a daily podcast may be a bit much for me also. Is it truly daily or is it after each game? Also, how long? Sorry for all the questions, i'm also just going to subscribe to it and check it out.

Yea, that does sound great.

Does this Jake fella have a Twitter account he posts about the Pels on?

@NolaJake

Episodes are 5ish days a week. They are generally around 20-25 minutes I think.

Another great one is Bird Watch with Christian Clark and Jeff Nowak. They come out about once a week and both those guys are great.

A lot of good Pels podcast content out there

Stan van gundy is such a good basketball coach.

He actually uses all of his resources and coaches the players.

Can't believe this team was allowed to fester for this long under great uncle al
