Yeah, it's not like he's going to go in there alone. There are multiple multi-million and multi-Billion dollar businesses that have a vested interest in Zion being properly prepared.

You’re a fricking moron. He’s not being called to testify. And even if he was he’d have a team of lawyers preparing him for a week before.

Lighten up, Frances.

It was largely a joke.

He's giving a deposition.

He's going to be asked if he took money while he was at Duke (which you know he probably dead).

On the oft-chance that he says now, he can very easily get brought to trial on that.

With that said, this isn't going anywhere. Zion will be fine.

That is not what the judge ordered. He’s ordered to answer written discovery.

People lie in depos every single day. He’s not getting a perjury charge for obfuscating in a civil depo.

The fifth only applies if an individual may incriminate himself. This is a civil case and taking money from a school is not against the law just NCAA rules. He will have to talk.

I think he will settle it before testifying.

Also, if this really mattered, he would have nothing to lie about. He could say I got $10 million to go to Duke and there’s no repercussions for him.

He’d be dumb to lie.

Except he would lose out on a percentage on some of earnings to this agency that is claiming Zion owes them a cut when he signed with them in college.

But, it's not like he'll be hurting for money.

I'm more worried he'll be truthful and admit he (or his family) accepted $500,000 under-the-table and the IRS seeks jail time for tax evasion.

Yes. Everything that can go wrong is happening in 2020. It's just a shite year

If it came to this, I don't think Zion would have any trouble coming up the amount of money he got to go to Duke.

I doubt the IRS would even request a criminal charge- they’d just ask for the money with interest

You seriously don’t think he’s going to be deposed in this case? How is he going to avoid that? If he refuses to answer questions he’ll likely have an adverse inference against him and they will use it to prove their case. They really have him in a tough spot if he received benefits.

You seriously think he paid taxes on benefits if he received them at Duke? Tax evasion is a pretty heavily prosecuted offense for celebrities. See Capone and Snipes.

Well, he’d be proving their case for them. He would be just as well to pay them if he’s going to admit to receiving benefits.
