That's a great looking hat IMO.. I'll probably end up with the pelicans SnapBack posted earlier, but I haven't really seen if anywhere but online.

I typically only wear the '47 brand cap that is fitted, flatbills do not fit me right or I would attempt to wear one.

You could buy a New Era 5950 and....

(I hope you're sitting down)

Only hat that I like are the 47 brand. New era and Adidas have too much room up in the front of the hat. I'd definitely buy that red 47 if it was fitted.

Used to when they made em out of wool. I would shrink them in the sink and cut out the lining.

Now they are mostly polyester (won't shrink) and they are too tall for my head. Like I have to pull them down over my ears or you have the top of the hat sitting an inch or two over the top of my head.

I was a baseball player my whole life, have plenty of experience with 5950's. Great hats, just don't fit my head at all.

You still can, it just requires more (and a different kind of) work.

You can google it and figure it out.

The twenty second version:

-place front logo in palm of hand
-pinch/cup hand
-use hair dryer to heat plastic on the inside of the hat, where you're pinching
-when your hand starts to get hot, turn off dryer
-put hat on head, smooth the high spots to fit your head (don't burn your head, dumbass)
-repeat
-repeat
-repeat

It takes a while, but you have to break that plastic down. All of my 5950s look "normal", it just takes time.

You know what, I may actually try that.

I put on one of my 5950's I wore for a slowpitch team and it doesnt look too bad. I did have one that I botched a few years back and haven't really tried again since. It has wrinkles on the front corners and looks worse than it did before I tried to shrink it down. I figured there had to be a way since there are about 500 MLB players that wear them amongst many others.

Most of those guys are wearing the "low-profile" 5950, which is only available for MLB hats.

The NBA and NFL New Era hats fricking suck.

Right, and those things are damn near impossible to find. I understand the reasoning to an extent. The 5950's are clearly the money makers for hat companies.

Nah. Some wear the low profile, but they really stand out. Most of them just spend a lot of time (or pay the bat boys/interns $20) making the hats look better.

Not all of them. For ANY 5950, flip it over and look at the tag. If it's made in China. NFL On Field hats are and some percentage (50%?) of Minor League 5950s are. MLB On Field hats, and at least the early Pelicans 5950s are made in the USA.

Do NOT buy a New Era that was manufactured in China, it's a POS. Yes, it's "legit", but they use inferior manufacturing methods/personnel (most likely) and inferior materials (most probably.)

If you hold a USA 5950 next to a China 5950 there is a noticeable difference.

If you're white and are not bald you should almost never wear a hat
