re: Anthony Bennett to have surgery

There are some doubts with his lateral quickness. I don't see this shoulder injury hindering that though. Many times when young guys get non debilitating injuries that they have to overcome and rehab from, it positively effects other aspects of their game. The main reason I like him is for his offensive readiness for the nba. I don't see him ever being less than 230 in his career. He has the size and smarts to be a guy that can go to work on the offensive end and get a bucket when his name is called. I trust this organization with developing defense but offense not so much. I think he can also show flashes of manimal-esque rebounding energy once he gets in prime shape. He needs to lose some bodyfat still.

Otto porter is a perimeter player. . Decent size but much less offensive presence as bennett at the same age. Also I doubt he's getting to us at 5/6 so im not even looking at him now. I think anderson is capable of producing much of what porter would do here.

We may not be picking at 5/6, as the lottery is in about 15 days.

Otto Porter is as close to a can't-miss prospect as we'll find at those positions. Granted, this is looking to be a thoroughly mediocre draft.
That's basically what I'm saying.
It's more along the lines of, hey, we need a SF, Porter's a small forward, lets hook up.
You could also say we need a center so Zeller would be the pick.
Or a pg and Burke would be the pick.
I just think there is more to it. The mock drafts have everyone saying Burke. The need at SF has everyone saying Porter. People think its one of the two but I think there is just as great of a chance of taking Bennett or Shabazz or whoever else. Position won't dictate who they select imo

Given the lack of depth on our roster, we could realistically pick at any position.
I still don't see us picking a 4 as long as we have both Davis and Anderson on the roster. And, based on what everyone has written, Bennett is more likely to be a stretch 4 like Anderson at the NBA level than a potential 3.

I tend to agree, though I'm not ruling it out

I don't care what those GMs say, this could drop him into the 6-8 range. Not what we needed at all.
Yea I feel like GMs always say this. And then, come draft time when he's the only one not working out for teams, he falls

I hope like hell it isn't Zeller.

I'd rather have josh smith as a trade chip than ty lawson (trey Burke) if that's who you're comparing Bennett to.
lolwut?

So, benson wants to win next season. our key players would be gordon - on 3 pt line, vasquez - slow vasquez, AD - midrange, lopez - post but not a great offensive option, porter - perimeter, too light/lacking athleticism to get down low and hit shots consistently, anderson - perimeter. We've all seen gordon trying to drive with these options and being outsized down low... I think if we got bennett we could say gtfo to aminu and open up the inside/out game. Porter would be a great fit with say pecovic, but we don't have that. We need consistent scoring and I see bennett bringing that to the table much more than porter. Bennett can go 1 on 1. Im not looking at position. If we have porter I see a big play of gordon driving and kicking to porter on the 3 which is already there with ryno. Bennett brings new ferocity to the team. We're soft as shite right now.

Idk, expound upon your hawks comparison.

AD would certainly need to see significantly more minutes at C
This is where it becomes a problem for me. I just think AD's ceiling is highest at PF, so making a pick that pressures you to misuse him is just not a good pick.
I'd have no problem taking BPA at PF if we didn't clearly already have our PF of the future.

The Hawks have a history of overstocking PFs resulting in an unbalanced roster that is inherently flawed.

The heat also start 3 pfs... its about chemistry to me not position.

Are you really trying to call Lebron a PF?
None of AD/Anderson/Bennett even sniff Lebron's skill set.

Sounds like a challenge for the Z chart

This is more bad news for a weak draft. With Smart staying and now Bennett having surgery this draft just keeps getting worse.
I'm hoping for a 2 or 3 and we grab Porter. If the Pels end up at 5 or worse gonna be holding my breath hoping for either Oladipo or Burke to last until we can get them.

Noel
Porter
McClemore
Shabazz
Burke
Oladipo
Bennett
I'm happy if we get a top 7 pick. I would take any of those guys and be happy

I don't know why everybody leaves out Zeller. He was the projected number 1 guy before the season and he semi-improved on his game this year (rebounding went way up). He would fill a huge need, has tons of potential and Davis could stay at PF. The team has Lopez for another year, so he could split minutes his 1st season while getting his feet wet (ala Davis/Anderson). Anderson would have to play more SF though. But a starting front court of Anderson, Davis and Zeller is really strong.

Plumlee will be a better pro imo
