I don't think it will work if he does it every time but it's nice to see AD come out strong in the second half. 19 points I think.

Certainly can't fault Al for his passion this season. Monty had 0 technicals last year (2 called against, both rescinded) and Al has at least 3, maybe 4 already this season.

Until Al/Erman get their shite together with defensive strategy, AD "coasting" won't matter.

Pels are 16th in Drafting over the last 10 games

I'm not sure what to think about last night. First you have Norris Cole doing stupid things at a high pace as opposed to Tyreke doing it slowly. Then you had the Pels attacking the basket pretty well, but I think that said more about the Mavs defense and poor rim protection than the Pels offense.

However, holding the Mavs to a 96.7 ORtg when it's normally 103.4 is good. I noticed Erman on the court a lot coaching, and Holiday was great, not only being disruptive in the passing lanes, but also being useful when he got switched on to Dirk. Also of note, Gee only took 3 shots, but he looked confident when he did which is new.

How many times did we willingly let Jrue get switched onto Dirk? Absolutely no adjustment was made.

Dallas has probably run that same play 25 times against us this year. No joke.

And none needed to be made. It may have happened more, but in the 2nd half I recall 3 times, Dirk only scored once and Jrue made it hard on him all 3 times including the time he scored. That is the plan for this defense which is why Gordon needs to be traded because he just can't handle guarding anyone bigger than 6'4ish.

Maybe you're right. It worked last night. But having Jrue guard Dirk is never a victory in my opinion.

Jrue is very good at switching onto bigger players. This isn't the first time he's made Dirk miss, he's done it to plenty of other bigger guys too like Deng and even LeBron. He's physical enough to body them up and crafty enough to pull the chair. I'm not sure he'd do well covering these guys as an assignment, but on occasional switches they expect to attack him like most smaller players and he gives them more than they're expecting.

Switching is the way defenses are going, because if you can't switch you'll be taken advantage of. That's why the Pick and Roll is the bread and butter play for most of the NBA, it lets you put a team's defensive weak link in the line of fire.

Maybe it's because last night was the first game I actually attended live this season, but Alvin really looked more animated than I've ever seen him.

Perhaps, but Al is pretty damn animated on the sidelines.

If Monty was a 5/10 (lol) then Gentry is at least a 9/10 on the sideline blow up meter.

Yeah but Monty with his 5/10 (lol) didn't need to blow up to motivate Davis.
