Well Well Well, it looks like Mr. Kyrie is asking out in Brooklyn which easily means Mr. Durant is likely on the market too.

We can revist this trade now ASAP.

Except for 1 important thing...KD doesn't want to come here, and Griff won't trade for him if he doesn't want to come here.

He gave his list, it was Phoenix and Miami, and most reports were that it was really just Phoenix. New Orleans didn't sniff the list.

We can say he doesn't have a choice, he has to go wherever they send him. Technically, that is true. In reality, Griff isn't making that deal without KD being on board with it.

Since then CP3 has started to decline enough that Phoenix is thinking about having to trade him at some point. Also since then the Pels did, however briefly, look like one of the top teams in the league with Zion playing like an MVP and CJ playing near an All Star level with a deep supporting cast.

Considering his connection to Willie I think it's entirely possible the Pels would make his short list now. But you need to make that list to consider doing a trade.

As for why the Nets would trade Claxton, I think that depends on what other offers they have. If Ingram is the best player they have a shot at getting back for KD, which seems like a reasonable assumption, does Claxton really become the stumbling block to a deal?

Also, I don't think any of this happens now. I think it would happen in the offseason and the Nets kick the can down the road and see if playoff success changes anything.

KD not going anywhere.

I could see Suns trying to get Nets to take CP3 and Crowder for Irving (or something like that).

Fair point but I think it's equally a con against us that we're a fringe play in team at this very moment.

Would the Pels let him be the stumbling block? I do think the Nets would have the leverage as like you said they could just wait til the offseason to deal KD when it'd a bit easier.

Anything can change, and hey, I don't exactly have a friendship with Griff lol...but I doubt it.

I'd also argue Griff should not make this deal if KD doesn't sign off. That's a recipe for disaster.
