Idk how I feel about this small ball line up idea. Works if you have perimeter shooting and can space the floor with multiple shooters, but we don’t have that. I kinda feel like the small ball lineup fad was dying out recently.

Might be a fad that's dying out but I just don't see teams going out of there way to find an old-school post-up BIG 5. Pretty much the opposite ...imo. Seems the latest legit BIGS (6'10 to 7'4) coming into the NBA, are NOT post-up 5s but are known for their outside game. Times change...and I think the trend toward smaller, more versatile 5s is just beginning. Just my opinion...I COULD be wrong. Guess...time will tell.

For sure, GS is an outlier but they have two of the greatest shooters ever. Nuggs, Bucks, and Lakers all played 2 Bigs (6'9 plus) and had other big reserves. Teams can go small ball for bursts but as a base philosophy, only the Warriors have had real success. There are traditional bigs to be had but they're coming from Europe, all the American bigs are practicing their step-back threes.

Trey is no longer wearing a sleeve on his leg like he was the first few days of training camp. I have no clue what that means medically, but it seems like progress. LINK

Also Jose and Nance were working with each other and both seemed to be moving just fine, to me. Obviously they weren't going hard, though

Questions I have ...
Kira - Was the 44% three-point shooting last year an aberration? If he continues to shoot well and has a jump defensively what do the Pels do?
Liddell - Can EJ crack the big rotation?
Herb - Can Herb lead the league in steals ?
Daniels - Will the offseason work lead him to being a much better finisher at the rim?
Zion - With BI running the point can Zion average 30 points per game?
BI - Can BI hold up physically with the demands of running point?
CJ - Can CJ get up 9-10 threes per game with the new offense?
Val - What will his role be with an even more uptemp team?

With all of the talk of small ball I can see JV going from 25 MPG to closer to 20 MPG. But I also saw a clip of JV doing a dribble hand off to Zion at the elbow and JV rolling to the basket for an easy dump off from Z.

10/10 teams will double Zion in that situation. It reminded me of how Harden and Capela would always kill you with the P&R ally oops. If Zion can make that pass reliably, it should be a staple of the offense.

Jonas on an alley-oop is always an adventure. He tends to bring the ball back down a lot which is a no no.

Right, but this wasn’t an alley oop, it was a dump off and he was wide open because Zion drew both bigs to him at the FT line.

For sure, that play will be there a lot. One area I'd like to see Val improve at is outlet passes down the court. Steve Adams was very adept at this and Val getting better at getting the ball out of his hands after a rebound could prove very valuable.
