As we look at our own push for a play-in slot and keep an eye on the Lakers pick, I thought it would be good just to keep an ongoing thread to talk about standings and what teams might want to do as we approach the trade deadline.

The Blazers got absolutely thrashed by the Lakers last night, 139-106. Portland is now 2-8 in their last ten games, and they have dropped into a tie with us in the standings (actually behind us when you count tiebreakers).

As bad as things looked for Portland at the beginning of the year, I still didn't expect to see them in 14th place in the West---and that's with a healthy Dame. Is Lillard going to ask for a trade? Will Portland blow everything up? Is a Ben Simmons deal still the most likely scenario? Do we want to try to get McCollum?

I will say, If I’m Philly and if I’m still considering a Portland offer, i might be looking toward McCollum over Lillard at this point.

Maybe there is some underlying stuff I’m not aware of, but so far Lillard looks like he is aging more like Kemba or Isiah Thomas, and less like Curry or CP3…of course CP3 looked like he was quickly on his way to washed at one time as well and then changed his diet and training, so who knows, but it’s concerning.

And as a side note, it’ll be a joke if he gets an all star nod this year

I’m sure it’s been discussed ad nauseum, but lakers as a lottery pick converts this year it no lottery pick doesn’t, right?

This was always my main concern with him when this board was orgasmining about him last year

His PER is 6 points down from last year and his leadership has been iffy. Portland isn't without talent. Powell is playing well and they have Nurkic back. CJ can still score 20/game, too.

NO way they should be this bad with a superstar and those 3 guys around him

We get it if it's in the top ten. Personally, I think LeBron needs to miss at least three weeks for the chances of that to be good, but the 538 computer model still projects the Lakers to finish with the 10th pick right now---they have had an easy schedule to this point, with a ton of home games, and it's about to get a lot harder for them.

lottery includes down to 14th.
lakers finish 1 to 10 its pels.
11th to 30th. memphis.
if lakers pick is 11 to 14 but after lottery that wins 1 to 4 its pels.
if pick 11 to 14 gets lottery top 4 its pels.

Portland went 2-11 in December.

Dame is still saying he doesn't want out, and they only have an interim GM so you know upper management won't allow them to make a big trade to save their season.

I think we just have to be better than Minnesota to get that 9-10th spot. Sacramento and Portland are in a downward spiral, and Houston and OKC aren't pushing for the playoffs.

The Spurs lost to Detroit today, which keeps us 1.5 games back of the #10 spot.

I don’t think Dame is 100% healthy. The foul rule changes, the different kind of basketball the league switched to is probably a factor as well. Also, he’s been dealing with more off court strife than usual after the media attacked him over preferring Billups as coach due to Billups maybe having some sexual misconduct with someone when Dame was like 4 years old.

I think Dame should take some time off and get healthy. A trade would probably also do him good. I think he knows he can’t get it done in Portland and it’s weighing on him.

I still think he has 3-4 elite years in the tank. He’s a skill guy that can shoot the face off of the ball. The quickness and explosion to get to the rim is a bonus to his game, not necessarily what his game is built or reliant on.

Memphis beat Nets @ nets.
harden and kd showed up.
bane and morant showed up.
jarrett frigging Culver got run and made a difference. ***
jaren disappointed.
a road win vs contender.
lots of good games from the bench. bench is solid. lots of guys out sick. brooks and slo mo among them.
*** admitting i thought culver was going to be important piece in nba but he got injured and disappeared and never was good then got thrown into deal with memphis. memphis did not extend. hes expiring. follow his play now as covid benched many ahead in rotation. maybe worth a pels fa deal.

The Blazers beat the Hawks last night with no Dame or McCollum. That was with Young going off for 56/4/14. Simons and Powell combined for 69 points. Both of those guys seen ready to step up..

Yeah, the West had three good teams: Suns, Jazz, Warriors. It's time to add the Grizzlies to that list. I want those four teams to win every game against the teams currently in places 5-13 in the standings.

Grizzlies played poor tonight but Morant scores 10 of our last 12 points down the stretch and we win by 4 in Cleveland. Fly home tonight and rest tomorrow before playing the Pistons on Thursday. Raps beat the Spurs. Need the Kings to find a miracle against the Lakers.

cavs had the ball down only 2 and morant stole the ball and drove for the final score.
that was big-time. thats what larry, West and mj did. killers.

re standings. its now imaginable that utah feels memphis could take 3rd and pit Utah to 4th vs The Return of Splash Bro2. nobody wants a piece of that in round 2. plus 4th may be vs Kahwi. lol.
memphis now 3 games back of Utah.. hmmmm.

Lillard out at least three games

The Blazers just keep getting more bad news. I think that the odds of them blowing up everything at the deadline have increased and are now likely. I expect them to blow it up.

lilliards abdomen thing may not go away in a week. posters previously speculated he must have a health issue. bingo.
no one pays big for a mystery. portland are so screwed. if hes not returned to form before deadline no one pays optimum price.

The three teams directly ahead of us in the standings, the Kings, Blazers, and Spurs, all lost last night. That again pulls us to just 1.5 games out of the play-in.
