Charlotte is in a position to tank this year anyway with Bridges being renounced.

Dumping Heyward and Scary Terry just clears the board for more long term moves rather than keeping you in mediocrity.

After his rookie season, Hayward had six straight seasons of playing at least 2000 minutes. Since his injury, he's now had five straight seasons of playing less than 2000 minutes.

And, since the injury, his play has never resembled that of the all-star he was before. Even when he's on the court, he's not very good anymore. He had negative scores in LEBRON and RAPTOR last season. And, he's 32, so it's not going to get better.

So, he's not going to help the Lakers in any substantial way.

Heyward has one season left past this one. Scary Terry’s contract is the long term one.

Heyward is the cost of doing business to dump a guy in Westbrook who is detrimental to the team while Rozier will help them.

A little bit. No one outside of Los Angeles is going to think that acquiring Terry would put the Lakers into title contention. He can't defend. He's not a top-50 player.

Look at what LA’s options are and tell me how many guys they can bring in that can help them more than Rozier.

This is not to blow him as much as point out that the Lakers have painted themselves into a corner and their options are to let WB walk or trade for supporting players to be better than the scrubs they have been signing.

They are in a very bad place right now and if they want to dump Westbrook without completely mortgaging their future, they may need to take a bite out of a shite sandwich.

And that is the problem.

No one wants Westbrook. Some teams will take him for one or more unprotected firsts but they will try to ship out their own garbage in the process.

No one is giving positive value to LA unless that on-court production is balanced with long term money owed in excess of Westbrook’s $47m.

This is what happens when you have very few positive assets and a massive contract you are trying to rid yourself of, even an expiring one.

Just because you have a $1000 bill doesn’t mean you can easily get change for it. It’s not usable for much so people won’t want to give you smaller bills for it.

Patrick Beverley and Bojan Bogdanovic are two potential trade targets to keep an eye for the Lakers, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow .

Utah will take those two 1sts with pleasure.
if all they get is pat bev and a bogdanovic though...LOL

Can’t happen before August 30 (PBev can’t be packaged with others before then) and Utah has to send out an additional $6.2m in ballast.

Edit - Rudy Gay roughly matches that salary requirement.

that’s only a week away.
the trade is easily made with gay going out as you say and doesn’t mess with the Mitchell talks

It’s also extremely one-sided in favor of UT which is what we want

It is but it still requires the Lakers to do it.

Does LeBron sign off on this or does he hold out for a disgruntled superstar?

Longhorn will be along shortly to explain how PatBev and Bogdanovic will be great assets to the Lakeshow..

Happy to hear about KD and the impending doom the Lakers must go through

Pat Bev must have amnesia or something lol. He names KD, then replies to KD saying who said I was talking about you ?

He’s probably trying to gaslight KD.

Given how fricked in the head KD appears to be, it could work.

I bet we can scratch lineups 1 and 2 right there. AD doesn’t play center no matter how much he really should.

Austin Reaves and Troy Brown are in more of those lineups than AD
