Lakers are bracing for an indefinite absence for the Lakers star, sources say, after he sustained the right foot injury in Friday’s win over Denver. Davis has played arguably the most dominant ball of his career this season.
His next tweet makes it sound like it could be a lot longer

Knew he couldn’t sustain that level of play for long. Props to him for trying, but it was just unsustainable

Officially out for at least a month. I’m willing to bet it’s longer.

Fun fact: the Lakers have a net rating of -7.9 when Davis is off the floor this season. Of the 30 teams in the league, only the Spurs currently have a net rating lower than that (at -10.1).
I keep watching the injury, and it just does not look like much happened, except that his knee bends weirdly.

Wow. That train is never late. Not sure what the lakers do with this. Try and make a trade to tread .500 and keep the play-in in reach? Fold the tents and make moves to go all in next season? Or just let the chips fall and give us another top 10 swap.

If AD is out for months, the season is done. They aren’t wasting assets on a mediocre at best year
Posted on 12/18/22 at 3:56 pm to Macintosh
Yeah, "at least a month" implies a possibility that Davis could possibly be back before the February 9th trade deadline.
If Davis gets back on the court before the deadline, then it will depend on whether or not the Lakers are within striking distance or not.

Lakers depth with Davis out is abysmal. Lebron will have to go insane to keep them afloat

Austin Reaves just twisted his ankle pretty badly -- went straight to the locker room.
Reaves has been the Lakers' 3rd-best player this season. In fact, his Total RAPTOR this season is actually 2nd-best on the team -- better than LeBron's. As big of a steal as Herb was for us last season, Reaves was not far behind as a 2nd-round steal for the Lakers.
And while I've been typing this message, the Wizards have gone on a run.
Edit: Reaves has returned to the game.
Another edit: Reaves was hobbling on the floor and went back to the locker room.

And now Lonnie Walker has turned his ankle.
I ain't pulling for any career-ending injuries, but I'll be happy to see every Laker turn an ankle. This team is going to get blown out tomorrow night in Phoenix.

For reference, here's the Lakers roster sorted by Total RAPTOR.
Notice that with Davis out, the Lakers have four remaining players with a positive score. Then, they have two players who are slightly negative. The rest are all below the -2.8 score of a replacement player.

But the question here is... is the clap still on?

Incredible. Tie game, 30 seconds left, and the Wizards apparently decided not to guard LeBron and just let him go to the rack for an easy slam. There was no one in the paint! The Wizards are so bad -- it's no surprise that they've lost nine in a row.

wizards all eyes on wemby. embarrassing loss

The Wizards are pure trash.

I thought Gafford would be a good backup for us but wow he sleeps on his man a lot. Well the whole team sleeps on defense.

dear lord,
you are the review booth man aren't you!? **
lets look at this:

if your knee bent weirdly would you say anything much happened? if a knee joint is moving weirdly what does that suggest to you?
I'm no laker fan but go look up gaslighting. you might be.
** funniest post all day.

A possible knee injury, not a foot injury. I am still trying to see how he hurt his foot.
And it's hard to tell, from the camera angle that we have, whether his knee really bends awkwardly in the air or not. Usually, when players sustain serious injuries, you can kinda see what happened.

Wizards are so fricked it isn’t funny.
They went from Beal being one of the more desired players in the league to him being an albatross between the size of the contract and the no trade clause giving him veto power over destinations.
On top of that, their supporting cast sucks or has stagnated outside two expiring guys in KP and Kuzma.
Trade those two, figure out what young players have potential, debate what to do with Beal.

This season and last season, Bradley Beal has been "just a guy" -- a good NBA player, but nothing special. His Total RAPTOR is 1.7, which puts his right under Malcolm Brogdon, which seems about right.
He's earning $43 million, and he's playing like a guy who should be paid less than half that.
Yeah, the Wizards are screwed. Tank for Wemby is probably the strategy.
But Porzingis is NOT expiring. He has a $36 million player option for next season, which I'd expect him to pick up.
