lol, I told you bitches its a fukin wednesday night. its only 17k (i think) to be full house. this was not a bad attendance. Wednesday, on Halloween? Hell yeah. Idk why you hoes are complaining at all. There isn't anything wrong with this on a game basis... better then last years

You whiny count are really getting annoying. You want it all to happen right away. Those are valid points as to why the casual fans are not going to come out right away. Casual fans are the people who fill the rest of the arena. Do you remember our best attendance year? That would be the year we came within a game of the western conference finals. Winning puts butts in the seats.
If I lived in N.O. I would have season tickets and put my arse in a seat every night. This, unfortunately, is a minority view point. We will have to prove to most people that the product is worth it, to the casual fans
I'm done with thread, get a fricking clue.

Attandance matters why again?
It matters, just less than people think in most cases,
My question is why do people here care?

quote:no it's not. People are already spending money on football tickets and other game related things and don't have the extra money to drop on a hornets game. Makes perfect sense to me and everyone else on this board. Don't understand why you don't see it like that.
There are no football games going on tonight. this is a bogus excuse and I am TIRED of people using it

Holy Mother of God. Are we truly going to start having fricking attendance threads again?
Christalmighty I wish they were fricking forbidden on the board. We've had to endure years of them. On HR. Now on HT.
It is what it is. Halloween Night. Football season in a football town, in which many residents are just beginning to get more interested in the Hornets because of Benson's ownership and the No. 1 pick.
ETA: And another fricking thing. It seems some people forget what happened in 08-09 with an exciting team. AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR . . . after the bulk of football season, with an exciting, winning team, there were a string of true sellouts and the place seemed packed every night. That's the nature of having two teams in such a small market. Now if they become a perennial contender, things will be different.

False.
Show me the data.
No, don't. I looked at the data. The conclusion is false. It's a reasonable hypothesis that is just false.
ETA: LINK Look for the football section
And, why does anyone care about attendance?

Uh, you do make reasonable point about one specific set of data points. However, they do not full address the overall effect of local football and fan interest. There are far mover variables that I'm too lazy to discuss at the moment.
I do agree with your general view on attendance, however.

There are always more variables. The question is, do they matter.
If attendance doesn't pick up after football, is more influenced by the day of the week and more, and we sold out the Saints games and 98% of the Hornets games one year when the population was smaller, then how big can the effect be?

Ugh, calm down. Shocking that a lot of people don't want to be out at the Arena in traffic at 9:30 at night instead of staying home and taking the kids trick or treating.
It's not like it was Saturday night or something. 2k short of a sellout isn't that terrible. Friday should actually be a lot better just given the weekend slot.

Prior year's record is a huge influence on attendance. Just look at the Hornets for evidence.
No so great in the return year, best ever the year after (WC Semi game 7 loss), decline after first round bounce, decline after injury season, better after doing ok against the Lakers, now down after a horrible year.
The attendance is in fact down and this was good attendance.
If you think 15k is low, just wait.

Unfortunately, you're right. There will be some dismal nights. The Wizards on a Tuesday, for example?

I was thinking this too...Did Mr. Benson start this thread?

No, he's out back rolling around in a pile of singles that he had the beer vendors build. I guess they don't want to sell more. It just seems like a lower price point could increase sales and ultimately revenue.

Uhh, why you coming at me? All I said was that I expected more turnout, something wrong with that?
And to the guy that replied "who cares" I told him to go follow another team (clippers on TNT) something wrong with that?
Back off man, seriously
