4 pages and no mention of Trey?

Trey is just outside my top 5
Hence me not mentioning him
I've seen him live a handful of times and when it comes to improvisation there is only one that I prefer over him, and that's Garcia.
Also he has a very unique sound, something I mentioned being a big aspect in my enjoyment of guitar in music. You know it is Trey within the first few seconds of hearing him play.
Dude has some fun on stage too

He is definitely not in the top 5 best guitar players right now, but between 92 and 98 he was the best guitarist in the world.

You are an idiot if you actually believe that. I'll give you Hendrix, but Van Halen is a noodler with very little creativity.

Why don't you try listening to what the people who know something about guitar-playing say, jackass.
I would rather listen to whom the great modern guitarists have been influenced by and who they think are the greatest gutarists than your half-arse list of losers.
If you take the time to read (I know that's a leap of faith) then you'll find that Hendrix and/or Edward Van Halen are on a great many of them.

kinda late here, by "Your top 5" I think more favorite than best.
Think I only have two surefire ones-
Hendrix
Buddy Guy
They both possess(ed) godlike tone and technique. Many players have one or the other but capturing both is the magic to me.
then I get to discussion ones...
SRV likely
Freddie King is hard to pass, he's copied a lot more than many might imagine. Clapton wanted to tour with him and play rhythm just to learn from him.
I'm a big Warren Haynes fan
Clapton is all around super great
Satriani and Vai are overwhelming technically but lack the soul I like in playing
Kinda the opposite of Satch & Vai are Albert King, BB King, and Albert Collins. They all can get into my top 10 by having such distinct personal tone/styles even if they just played 3 notes.

Okay, shoot. What do you know about guitar-playing? Basicqlly you are saying that you parrot popular guitarists. If you wanna talk about influential, you start closer to Robert Johnson than Dan Halen.

Sorry brah Rolling Stone magazine doesn't define everyones favorite guitarists.
Oh and btw those lists made by people who you claim "know something about guitar playing" generally have Kurt Cobain on them

Glad to see Prince and Frehley make an appearance on some lists. Prince is very underrated as is Terry Kath.
I saw some stuff on Freddie King the other night and know he was just inducted into RnRHOF. Dat boy had some skills.
