Not asking for in person sale with one of you guys persay. I'd actually prefer a shop or GC or Reverb or a small shop like Fret (who I know is not true retail). I figure why not ask here?

My highly inflammatory Biden Bucks have arrived (IB4 "Poor"). I just turned 48. My uncle just passed and was a good man to a fault who in the end deprived himself of things that brought him joy. Call it a mid life crisis but I don't want to end up like that. I want my family, home, and that beautiful guitar... In that order.

My justification out of the way, I ask the many eyes on this board, if you find one send a link my way. Looking for the standard model aged finish (not reliced), no special woods just standard spruce and EIR (not Carpathian and madagascar), not a sunburst (not a fan of that burst and it costs extra). And used or a scratch and dent (probably non existent but...)

Thanks in advance for the serious replies.

Or you can go for something really sweet, a 000-42MEC like what Steve Winwood is playing here:

Yes. But only at GCs. Never extended. Why?

Jus curious.

I'd always wanted one until trying to find the right one for purchase. Never could find the sound I wanted without running through a amp. And I once loved to play a very similar Collings. Of course that's why there's so many different models, shapes, and sizes.

I’ve tried 3-4. Loved all except one which was used with electronics put in. Too much stuff. Threw off the weight. And to me muffled it. Ate up too much space in the box.

I always wanted a D28, but they were hard to find (afford) when I found my 1966 D18 in 1973. I quit looking after I got it, but still want one.

Sorry to derail your thread. Good luck on your quest.

I don't know how many shops like this there are around the country, but you might want to bookmark Gryphon Stringed Instruments. They always have a ton of interesting used instruments, although they seem a bit short on Martin stock right now, probably pandemic related.

I've made mental note in case a client mentions he has one for sale. Good luck in your search.

I’ve seen gryphon on other websites. Forgot about them but I’ve been on about 20 similar.

Worst part is I had one on reverb and the seller flaked after accepting bid and receiving payment. He immediately refunded money, but the whole thing was weird.

Appreciate you sir.

Footnote. Looking for used and one that is under 3k.

It can be in condition to warrant that price. I passed on a 2750 one on reverb and am kicking my self. Just putting that price out there to not insult or lowball one of your friends, colleagues, or clients. Some people on reverb have lost their mind. Price things outrageous. Or one guy was wanting the money back for his pickup and labor of installation. He had the big window cut out of the side for an EQ basically. I don’t want that beautiful guitar looking like the dash stereo of Blaupunkt from 1989. Lol

Used. 3k or under.

New. They are priced like a Rolex. $3799 or 3759. Don’t like it. Don’t buy it.

I’ve been wanting one, too. I love the wide nut and v neck. They’re beautiful players but probably unlike what most are used to.

Drool worthy! I’d probably want one that already had a slight ding or something so I wouldn’t be scared to take it out and play it.
