Will there ever be another THRILLER?

Seriously, will one song like that spur an album that just kills the charts?
I say no. It's impossible this day and age.

Thriller was nowhere NEAR the best song on that album. Billie Jean and Beat It were both bigger hits.
It was the video that really did it. At the time there had been nothing like it.
Ever again? I doubt it, but Never say never.
MJ was quite a talent in his day--too bad he turned out to be a child-molesting pervert.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon will catch Thriller on the all time best selling album chart if I have anything to do with it because I've bought 4 copies of it myself.

Thriller is a great album but Purple Rain is better. There's absolutely no filler on the album, the whole thing is a concept, and the whole thing was written and composed by prince himself.

In todays music scene is not unusual to see music heavyweights collaborate, I wonder why prince and MJ never gave it a shot. Prince could have played the music and mike did the vocals.

After Michael Jackson ripped off Paul McCartney, nobody else wanted to collaborate with him.

The landscape of the music business has changed so much in the past 30 years, I doubt that would happen again...
I think the video culture created that phenomenon more than anything else and that has pretty much died out...

I hate to tell you, but Katie Perry & Gaga are coming close.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumors
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True
plus dozens of others.
That was an era of music when artists made albums that were loaded with great songs. The vast majority of today's music lacks that depth.
