Whats wrong with Neil Peart?
He has chronic tendonitis in his arms and problems with his shoulders. Drummers are basically athletes, playing drums in a group like Rush for 4 decades is probably equivalent to 10 years playing pro tennis or in the NBA.

Will Rush Ever Tour Again?
No. Lifeson has basically said they're done and be and Getty would never take the stage without Peart.

Will any of these guys pursue any further solo or non-Rush efforts?

They are done. Alex has had issues too and Geddy does not have the voice anymore. It is gone. He sounded really bad on the last few tours. I think Geddy and Alex would be open to doing some one off shows or short tour, but Neil absolutely won't do it. I think you will see Alex continue to do little stuff here and there and maybe Geddy will do another solo album.
With Neil, he just can't do it. He could, but it would not be the same and I don't think that is acceptable to him. Charlie Watts can go out and play in 60's and 70's because those parts are what they are. You can't go out and play Neil Peart parts for 2-3 hours in your 60's and 70's.

They are one of those bands that should never tour without the original members. That's how I feel about that.

From watching that documentary, their fan club looked like the biggest group of goobers and virgins I've ever seen

I could see them releasing an album later on, but I highly doubt that there would be a tour in support of it...

I think they know that's how their fans feel about it too.

Peart was overrated enough when fully healthy.

quote:Have you ever seen one of the top 5 drummers in the world. Go listen to Rush's first 5 albums, and you will change your mind.
Could they possible tour with a different drummer?

This should definitely be Geddy's next permanent gig. He is the only person of the planet that could fill the spot.
Yeah...Geddy crushed it......I could see those guys getting together and going out for a tour.

The selfish part of me wishes they'd keep touring, but compared to other long-time bands, at least they went out on a high note. I know Geddy struggles a little with his higher register these days, but the last time I saw them in concert, I didn't have to grade them on a curve....they were legitimately still at the top of their game, Geddy's vocals notwithstanding.
I might've told this story before, but one time I was watching the R40 BluRay in my living room, and my daughter (who was 9 at the time) walked in and started watching some of it. After a few minutes, she commented "Dad, these guys are OLD!!!", lol....my heart was about to sink, but then she finished her sentence with "...but they sound WAY better than what mom listens to on the radio!!" That's my girl

IF you are going to go down that road Geddy Lee is also not an original member.
Peart only played with them for the last 42 years and wrote the lyrics to 99% of Rush's songs, and no one on earth could name the original drummer for the first 3 years of Rush without Googling it.
