Might not be rock enough. Most of his stuff was either country or gospel. Classic rock stations don't seem to play anything before the late 60s.

The Beatles broke up in 70. Elvis "died" in 77.

I'm surprised eagle 98.1 doesn't play Elvis as they do play all kinds of old folky bull shite.

Most classic rock stations start their eras around the time of the British Invasion. Elvis was already established as a night club entertainer in the class of Sinatra and Dean Martin, et al by that time.

Yep Elvis is more 50's rock. Or is lumped in there with those guys. He was already THE KING by the time the mid 60's hit.

Bc Elvis is not considered to be in the classic rock genre.

Classic rock is from the mid sixties on. The Oldies format is fifties through early sixties. Oldies stations play a shite ton of Elvis.

Because the Beatles won the battle for music's soul. Elvis, while remembered fondly, lost.

...same reason you don't hear Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, Chuck Berry, Dion & the Belmonts, Fats Dominoe, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, etc on classic rock stations. Elvis was the King of the predecessors to Classic Rock.

Because his fanbase is slowly dying. Which is sad. I love 50s rock. But old people are not a valued market, so their tastes aren't reflecting on the radio. Remember big band stations? Same reason they don't exist anymore. Eventually, all but a handful of 1950s songs will disappear from the radio.
