Why does Les Paul rarely get mentioned in the GOAT guitar player

Dude had really good chops on the guitar
And everyone gives Hendrix way more credit than he deserves for being "influential" and of course Paul has that going for him as well and to a much greater extent.

He was pretty much done recording new material by the early 60s, and missed out on the Baby Boomer hype machine.

To say that Jimi Hendrix is not one of the most influential guitarist of all time is ridiculous.

I agree with you on that. Duane was better, especially technique wise. He was incredible, but we all know that.
Jimi was a creative and edgy guitarist, he was unlike anything anyone had ever seen at that time. Just a completely raw sound.

Name your top 5 Les Paul songs. Even among guitarists, I can't recall any citing Les Paul as a huge influence. From his generation, Chet Atkins, OTOH...
