I remember hearing Novocaine for the Soul when I was a kid and it was good stuff. My daughter loves Susan’s House. And Mark Everett’s father was a quantum physicist and came up with the multiple universes theory I believe (I think Mark hosted a Nova episode exploring this). Anyways I like em

I didnt pay much attention to the band when the beautiful freak record came out, wasn't what I was into.. I also hated the album artwork and the girl's eyes

I love the record Electro-Shock Blues... A friend made me listen when it came out and it was pretty phenomenal.. But I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of his other stuff.. I like him enough and songs here and there...

I did read his book earlier this year and it renewed my interest a bit in his music, I had lost touch with it over the past decade or so...

Doesn’t E have some pretty heavy mental health issues (not that that’s unusual)?

Electro Shock Blues is amazing. Blinking Lights is a monster and is also very good. Other than those two, I haven't been a huge fan of his other stuff. It's not bad but not anywhere close to the quality of the two I mentioned.

I saw them for the Blinking Lights tour in Deep Ellum and it was amazing. I've seen them 1 or 2 more times and both were good shows.

Overall, a good band and E should be a well respected artist.

His dad died of a heart attack when he was 18 - E was the first to find him after he died. Not long after, his sister committed suicide and mom died of lung cancer. His cousin was on the flight that hit the pentagon on 9/11.

Understandably, he's had some major mental issues as a result and most likely contemplated suicide himself.

Love them (him really). Late '90's early '00's was really great music period and they were an important part of it.
