technically Incubus had a debut album, Fungus Amongus, but was indie - SCIENCE was their first major label release and they used some songs from Fungus Amongus to go on their EP, Enjoy, which was much better quality-wise....why I considered SCIENCE their first, but anyway....

with that said, I'll remove Incubus from my list and add System of a Down - that was their best album in my opinion, so raw

hard to argue against those. both were different than what was topping the charts at the time.

a few others worthy of nomination that haven't been mentioned:

metallica- kill'em all
motley crue- too fast for love
anthrax- fistful of metal
queensryche- the warning
ozzy- blizzard of ozz

I saw them live in SF a couple times in 1982-93 when my ex-next door neighbors band was on the same billing with them before this was released. I was in the Army, stationed in Korea, when Kill 'Em All came out. I couldn't believe how big they had blown up by the time I got out of the Army.

I don't consider it so, for if I did, it would make my top five for sure.
