My definite favorite is Tom Traubert's blues
Another great one is The piano has been drinking
What are yours?

How to begin?
Ruby's Arms
On the nickle
Whistlin' down the wind
Cemetery polka
I wish I was in new orleans
Downtown Train
A little rain never hurt noone
Picture in a frame
Take it with me when I go
Anywhere I lay my head
Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis
And I'm probably leaving out 10 that I love even more.

To treat Tom Waits as some pedestrian artist from which you can choose a couple of favorite songs does a disservice to just how genius and innovative and most of all how versatile his lexicon of music is. He just has put out so many albums that all stand alone as something unique and brilliant.
That being said, I'm rather partial to Martha.

Has everyone seen the clip from Fernwood 2Nite where Waits does this song and then tries to borrow money from Martin Mull? Hilarious. Can't really tell if he's serious but I guess that's Waits thing in a way.
found it
