Van Halen/ Metallica/ Stones/ Floyd / Beatles/ Who..............I could go on about 50 to 100 other bands before I get to Radiohead. Lord man.

There are crappy hair bands like Quiet Riot or Bon Jovi that have done more than them.

The thing about questions like this is it is very personal and subjective. For me Radiohead would not even come close to top 5 but to others they might.

My list would definitely include Zeppelin, the Stones and Jimi Hendrix but I understand another person might think they suck.

I don't think there is an exact right or wrong answer to things like this

I’m late to the party. 25th downvote. They’re not even top thirty.

Go listen to Queen, GnR, LedZep, Allmans..

shite..even ZZ Top.

Even that God awful Don’t stop believing by Journey is better than Radiohead.

The only redeeming Radiohead quality..named after a Talking Heads song.

Go listen to Talking Heads, damnit.

When I think of an "act" I think of a live performance. The Beatles were the greatest rock band but were they a great act? I'd say no, not since they were playing small clubs. For a large concert setting, the technology was too primitive, the fanbase was too unsophisticated, the medium was too young.

I'd probably go with:

Let's start with the two biggies Bill Graham produced -- the Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones. I like The Who better than the Stones but I think the Stones are the bigger act.

Pink Floyd.

Bruce Springsteen (I'm not much of a fan but credit is due).

After that I'm not sure. Hell, maybe U2? I haven't been a fan since their first few albums but that might be the right answer.

Maybe Paul McCartney?

Either the Stones or Zep belong, not sure it's both given the way both bands' music fell off a cliff after a few albums.

Love Beatles but different category. Hendrix solo artist. Grand Funk narrowly missed. Pink Floyd too. There's a ton of others just below the top tier for me.

Love them or hate them, this is the only correct answer for #1.

- 178 million units sold (more then Stones & Zeppelin combined). They were only a group for roughly 8 years.
- only group to hold the top 5 spots on the Billboard 100 at the same time.
- Lennon, McCartney & Harrison all had several #1 albums as solo artists. Even Ringo had two #1 singles. There may be someone, but I can't think of another groups members that each one had that kind of solo success?

#2 Stones
#3 Zeppelin
#4 Eagles
#5 The Who or Clapton or Pink Floyd
