There is so much saturation about reaction channels it's ridiculous especially with Tool

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I can see that Danny Carey had been getting his chops ready before entering the studio...

Right now:

Tier 1
1. Invincible
2. Pneuma

Tier 2 (this one is really tough and they seem to shuffle around daily. ill listen to one and pick up something that I didn't pick up before and then rearrange)
3. 7empest
4. Fear Inoculum
5. Descending

Tier 3
6. Culling Voices
7. Chocolate Chip Trip

Subject to change over countless more listenings

For me it's Pneuma and then everything else.

I'm also really close to declaring this my favorite Tool album..

Lateralus is hanging on for dear life.

I'm having a hard time declaring it best over old favorites but it's very close. I will say it's the most epic for sure.

Ok, just how rare are these "rare" back covers? I mean, there's a dude selling a copy for $10k on Ebay, and it's the same back cover I have (the "Danny's drum kit" cover). That guy has to be out of his mind...but if it's TRULY worth that, I know what I'm doing first thing in the morning

It's way too early for me to even think about that. I'm still trying to digest this beast and not sure what to think of it. I don't think it'll end up being my favorite but we'll see.

+1

I'm almost a little surprised how much I like this album.

And so it was inevitable I guess, said fuggit and ran with it. Spun Litanie contre la Peur a couple times on a repeat and right about the 3peat is when I found that my legs were floating. Rather peacefully and pleasent, but floating just the same.

And that's when I pulled the car over.

Stole this, but it does kinda go about a way I took take it the first time around:

Litanie Contre la Peur in French means “Litany Against Fear”. Litany, in Christian worship and some forms of Judaic worship, is a form of prayer used in services and processions, and consisting of a number of petitions. The word comes through Latin litania from Ancient Greek ??ta?e?a (litaneía), which in turn comes from ??t? (litê), meaning “supplication”.

The name is in reference to Frank Herbert’s Dune. The Litany Against Fear is a mantra said, often by higher members of society and mental training in the series, as a way to ground themselves when they may be losing a grip due to fear and anxiety. Here it goes:

“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Could be something different tomorrow, but for today, that was pretty tip top

If anyone wants to pick up a deluxe edition signed by Alex Grey they are available for $111 on his cosm site. I missed out on the original release date so I figured I should get it while I can.

You get a lot of shite for hating everything, but you are dead on about pneuma. Best song on the album.

Anyone see Tool at a festival and on their own stage? Seen em 3 times, but never at a festival. Just wondering if they become part of the fest or can they blow the roof off. Some bands just have a different persona and go off entirely when they share the weekend with a bunch of other headliners and some, should never do festivals because they get lost in the lineup. Doubt seriously TOOL is that band, but Tool headlining after Korn, dunno what to expect.

To be fair, you have to have a very high astrological transit to understand Tool. The lyrics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the Fibonacci Sequence most of the allusions will go over a typical listener's head. There's also Maynard's psychoanalytic outlook, which is deftly woven into his vocalizations- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Carl Jung literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the Peyote sensitivity to truly appreciate the depths of these themes, to realise that they're not just pretentious- they say something deep about ANAL. As a consequence people who dislike Tool truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the anti-pessimism in Maynard's apocalyptic mantra "Learn to Swim," which itself is a cryptic reference to Bill Hick's comedic epic Arizona Bay. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those Coke-sipping hookers scratching their penis heads in confusion as Reverend Keenan's genius wit unfolds itself on their picture discs. What jerkoffs.. how do I tolerate them?

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Maynard's Dick tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that their rectal temperatures are within 4 degrees of my own (preferably higher) before I insert my hand. Nothin personnel carrot

First show was Voodoofest 2001 then saw 4 shows in 2002.

They fricking rocked at Voodoofest. There was a frenzy because Bush was on before them so you had this weird mix of crowd. I stayed at the stage all day to get my spot front center and I got crushed by the rail, people were getting hurt, Maynard at one point asked everyone to take a step back it was nuts.

But to answer the question they killed it. They do their own thing, seeing Bush before Tool was surreal too.

Once Tool got on stage it was a Tool show, completely took over the night

I’ve seen Tool at least 5 times (that I remember). I really want to go to Houston but I want to see the playlist of events beforehand. I want most or all FI. I’ve seen enough of the catalog already. NOT saying I wouldn’t gladly go to that but this tour seems special. And unfinished. There will be more legs to this tour.
