Elton was pretty much unstoppable from 1970-1976
It's amazing to me his rate of output. He was releasing albums at of rate of over 1 per year for a while, but then again many artists did that back in the 70's.
Back then, you couldn't release more than 2 or 3 singles per album, because the next album was ready to come out.

I read something recently about his process of composition. Bernie sends him lyrics but Elton never looks at them until he goes into the studio. Then he opens up the packet of lyrics while sitting at the piano and the music just starts flowing out of him. He's always done it that way.

As a wee lad I loved Caribou (1974),recorded in Nederland, my former stomping ground. Which many people think is his worst of that era because it was campy and uneven. So yeah, he was prolific and genius. What some consider his leanest album of that era still holds up 40 years later.
Bitch is back.
Don't let the Sun go down on me.
Pinky (criminally under-rated song of that era) LINK
Ticking (which I think is one of his ten best) LINK

Heck...I even pull out Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy every now and then.
Excellent albums.

In fact, Elton has said in interviews that he wanted to release Harmony as a single, but it was too late because Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me was about to be released.
A shame, because that song is overplayed.

Honky Chateau and Tumbleweed Connection are the GOATs.
