It was this past Friday at 6:40, proceeding home after a normal early married couple supper date, when it happened. As usual, I was surfing radio stations for anything at all that was different than what is played every frickin day of the week. As I punched preset #3 and 98.1 shined on the dial, I could not believe my ears......FRANK frickIN ZAPPA.

As I sat in dis-belief, smiling like someone was tickling my nuts, my Wife listened for about one second and bailed out shaking her head. Dammit Man, Dan Day thank you, I didn't think you had it in you.

He works in at least a couple random songs every show. He's clearly trying to test to see just how many songs that aren't in the normal rotation he can play without getting flak for it. I've heard him play King Crimson, The Killers, Green Day, Sound Garden, Modest Mouse, and some really obscure classic b sides. He's easily the best DJ at a major BR station.

Yeah, Dan comes from a different circle than most 98.1 djs.

I'd love it if Dan could stay with the afternoon drive like he has been filling in lately....I've really enjoyed his selections in music. That said, he could use some help with his fill in monologue between music.

This. 98.1 has about 30 songs they play ad nauseum (especially Foreigner) despite having a massive library of songs they almost never play.

I could go the rest of my life without that station playing any of these another time:

"Don't Stop Believing'"
"Wanted Dead or Alive"
"In A Blaze of Glory"
"Just What I Needed"
"Feels Like the First Time"
"Juke Box Hero"
"Cold As Ice"
"Double Vision"
"Urgent"
"Hot Blooded"
"Sweet Child of Mine"
"Sweet Home Alabama"
"Double Vision"
"Any Way You Want It"
"Piano Man"
"Only the Good Die Young"
"Uptown Girl"
"You May Be Right"
"It's Still Rock n Roll to Me"
"Lovin' Every Minute Of It"
"I Guess You're Just What I Needed"
"Workin' For the Weekend"
"Turn Me Loose"
"Too Much Time on My Hands"
"Show Me The Way"
"Can't Fight This Feelin' Anymore"
"Keep on Lovin' You"
"Take It On the Run"
"Shooting Star"

Seriously, can they just take a break from the Foreigner, Billy Joel, REO Speedwagon, Loverboy, etc for a little while?

I heard it too. Thought I had travelled back in time when FM radio was meant something. Goes without saying that we need more of this.
