I am not sure why Phish hasn't played NOLA since 1999. Trey played multiple shows here in 2005 and is coming back this Feb. Mike played a solo show at the Sugar Mill during Jazz Fest 08 or 09 (can't remember exactly). Page has had the most appearences here in recent years with a guest appearence with WSP at the Fairgrounds in 08, a few PBS w/ Page shows that year, and of course his 3 shows with the Meters and 1 with Tyrptophunk last JF. Why they don't play as a group? I dunno, maybe holding out for a big run here one day? It is strange.

Phish fans would travel from all over for a New Orleans run. It is certainly a destination concert given the fanbase.

I've alwayys heard, through some well connected sources, that when Phish played JF last, the city told JF "Never Again".

Could be urban legend, could be lie, but it is what I've always heard.

They did receive widespread (no pun intended) criticism throughout the city because of the fans gate-crashing, blatant drug use, etc. I still hear older people bitch about it whenever Phish is brought up. Even if this so-called ban were the case, they could always come back to the friendly confines of the UNO Lakefront Arena.

Phish encountered a similar situation when they were officially banned from Red Rocks in 1996 because of the fans. The city of Morrison,CO lifted the ban in 2009 and the band played 4 soldout shows.

I've heard the samething. It's a good thing IMO. Bad combo, now Phish at Hogs would be a different story.

Of course that Phish show was 20 years ago, and there is a whole new set of bosses at City Hall.

I'm not sure our production budget could cover Phish's lightshow. But I'll bring it up with management.

i've heard Arcade Fire. Clapton would be sweet. Really hoping for Sir Paul, though.

It is possible to have both. Jazz Fest 2006 had two of the biggest legends in Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. Money-wise, it can happen.
