For me, the music was better than the movie. I enjoyed it, but had a little higher expectations I guess.
Regarding the concert, I'm not sure there's anybody who has more fun playing music than Chris Thile. If you liked the Milk Carton Kids, you can download their first two albums free from their website.

Can someone explain the background on this movie? I saw it on a plane and was in and out of ambien related consciousness. Is it based on a true story because he see Dylan in the end but there was never really any closure for his career or the deal with he kid in Ohio.

Supposedly it's a movie about the Greenwich Village folk scene right before Bob Dylan showed up.

At Telluride this year he's doing solo, Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers...

It really is impressive how talented those guys are and how well they feed off of each other. All the memebers' solo stuff is good, but then you place those guys in the same room and it's nothing short of amazing.

Just watched it in it's entirety. Good grief, those are some incredibly talented musicians. And T-Bone Burnett deserves kudos. He had a couple of great albums in the 80's that are largely unfortunately forgotten. His career as a producer for albums and movies is reasonably incredible.

Regarding the Punch Brothers and how fun Chris Thile is to watch, I feel like I share this video of them playing Ophelia by The Band a lot to friends. When they hit the solo section about half way through, I think it's great...there's a good fiddle solo to lead it off. Then Chris Thile goes Chris Thile for a bit. Then Noam (banjo)'s solo comes up. And you can tell that halfway through Thile's solo he said "I'll go for laughs over gasps in this one," and he plays the generic in-key roll that someone who picked up the banjo a week ago could do before actually "riding it out" to the guitar solo. The way those guys play off each other in that 45-75 seconds is something special.

And here is chris thile making fun of himself in song form
I also once saw an interview with him explaining the jerky movements he makes on stage as him knowing that he moves a lot and trying to restrain himself, which usually makes it even more awkward.
Also, caught them at the Baton Rouge River Center back in Spring '09ish. During their 2 intermissions, they hung out in the lobby and talked to every person there. It was a fantastic experience. I check their website frequently for when I'll be able to make another show of theirs.
