The Killers and Bruce Springsteen

I think it's safe to say The killers basically took all of what bruce does except make it slighty more poppy. I mean even Brandon Flowers dresses like him.
I like the killers, but my god if they haven't admitted that their biggest influence is him, they are full of shite.

I don't know about that. Bruce Springsteen might be one of the worst mainstream musicians of all time. The only thing his music has ever done is feed the Democrats' propaganda machine.

Well, I wouldn't really say that Bruce is their biggest influences but really the 80's as a whole. Lately, there has been a more Springsteenesque vibe to them (BattleBorn as a whole). I'd say Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Bowie, Pet Shop Boys, and the Smiths are what I hear in them. Brandon is a huge Bowie fan, constantly going on an on about them. He has also consistently listed Oasis as one of the band's favorite groups.

Pretty sure he didn't play in 2008. He has played post Katrina twice and his performances were praised across the board. Specifically, the one directly after Katrina.
If you think I listen to DMB, you're even more of a bell end than what I first thought.
Everyone rips off Springsteen so, to the OP, not a big surprise.
Hell i believe he's even been asked onstage with Phish.

Phish is a very musically talented niche band with a focus on live performance.
They are niche because they don't have a widespread appeal.
Grateful Dead were a niche band as well.
It isn't/they aren't pop music.
Not many people have the patience to listen to a 15 minute song that doesn't rely on intro verse chorus verse chorus bridge repeat

I dont see a problem with bringing kids (and I'm generally not a fan)... Although, I guess some festivals are probably not ideal..

And IMO, Bruce is the Boss. I understand folks who don't like him and his raspy voice. Fine. Many of us though see him as someone who brought old fashioned rock'n'roll back to music in the 70's-80's. His social awareness made him stand out more, sure, but what gets me about that is because he's outspoken people like to say, "I like him except for his politics" or "I don't like him because"--who gives a shite? I'm sure he's not saying he likes you for a fan "except for YOUR politics". I dont' see those same people bitching about Ted Nugent and his outspoken political views--they're celebrating it.
I'm an independent, but I brought two die-hard, Rush Limbaugh Republicans to his Jazz Fest show last year. They were all worried about Bruce spouting off about politics. He didn't, and they both left saying it was one of the best live shows they'd ever seen.
Bruce is like hockey...you have to see him live to really appreciate him.
