In 1988, after the Go-Go's split up, drummer Gina Schock got together with Vance Degeneres (he of "The Cold" and sister Ellen fame) to form "House of Schock".

They put out one album, which included a watered-down version of The Cold's classic Seems Like Forever. But she could never match the energy of Barbara Menendez on that song. And for some they reason cut out the bridge for a guitar solo instead.

I saw them play at a private party after one of the parades in New Orleans. Them playing "This Town" while while tearing it up with several hundred Muses was one of my best concert experiences. Lyrics:

This town is our town
It is so glamorous
Bet you'd live here if you could
And be one of us

The song was situationally perfect.

I remember this Muses parade when they were the celebrity guests. I went up to the float to try to get close to them & began screaming at Charlotte Caffey by her name & she looked at me like I was a serial killer. I guess she couldn't believe a guy knew her by name. I got no beads from her.

Return to the Valley of the GoGos is a two disc greatest hits, with some pre 1st album tracks, b sides, and live tracks. Great album. I saw them at the assembly center on the Vacation tour with Flock of Seagulls opening. Great show. They accelled in the live setting and really brought it.

They came out of the LA punk scene and we're peers/friends with the Germs, Gun Club, X, etc. That is why I bought their first album. It wasn't punk like those bands but good music.

Down vote for no pics. May be a music thread, but they were hot back then.
