..or somewhere in between?

Listening to songs like Soul Kitchen and Hello I Love You in the office while I'm working. Some great sh*t. I think they one of the best groups ever. Anyone agree?

You have to be in the right mood IMO to feel that way

I think they would fit within my top 30. Which I guess makes them one of the best.

For me they are definitely in the former. The Doors is one of the best debut albums ever and packed with classic after classic. Seems like the rest of their career was filled with peaks and valleys, but the highs were really high. One of the best American bands.

Massively overrated

Morrisey was a huge doucher, and a god awful pseudo-poet

I can see the Doors just being before some peoples time, it was a different vibe in the 60's there has been nothing like it since.

Either way I really like the sound Krieger gets from his SG standard.

get inta it

I never really dug them, the music was a little too simplistic for my tastes. I don't know that I would say they are overrated just because I don't like them though.

The Doors for sure

I like some of the Doors stuff. I just think the whole mystical shaman poet Morrison stuff is a fricking sham. Like I said, the guy was a doucher.

Couldn't you just say that about all religion though?

Manzarek might really be underrated as the guy that defined their sound. Not sure Morrison can be overrated as a rock star, but as a singer & writer he had as many strike-outs as homers, for me anyway.

Because he was a drunk a-hole. And he thought he was like a poetic master genius, but really his poetry was like middle school English grade slop. And he was a douche onstage.
