I enjoy what I've heard, but I wonder if this genre will be like mid-1990's swing music: huge for a year or 2 and then just disappear when the next big thing comes along

I doubt it simply because there are so many more musicians operating in that space. It is close to rock or indie rock or singer-songwriter genres, so I just don't think it is so different than other areas. Some of the biggest established and up and coming indie groups have been lumped into indie folk (Avetts, Lumineers, Edward Sharpe, The Head and the Heart, Of Monsters and Men, etc.) so it is pretty broad and has a wide range of styles.

Honestly it is probably too broad of a label, as even bands with lots of synths and such are thrown into that category. More likely I think this is just the next slew of bands that'll become synonymous with "indie," regardless of the folk part.

Just messing with ya a little...

You didn't like Jack White, man?

This years grammys have been so much better than the normal lip synced, pop crap, hip-hop fest that it had been in previous years.

I think the Grammy's is a good show for people to watch who have musical appreciation for ALL genres. Those who don't just complain about every single performance.

Im amazed at all the nit picking going on in here. This is the best Grammy's in a long time. Numerous great performances and deserving winners. I think they might have found a successful formula tonight.
