Sowing the Seeds of love is my favorite song by them. Makes me feel like I'm in a parallel dimension

Gets stuck in my head for days too

A huge fan of the bands in this thread, and loved TFF's recent cover of Arcade Fire's Ready To Start

I'm sure y'all are huge Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, Soft Cell/Marc Almond, Joy Division/New Order, The The/Matt Johnson, Book of Love, Blue Nile,etc..fans too?

I never really liked what they did when they first came out.

Was not my thing in the 80's. Just my opinion and not hating on the duo.

Outside of Mother's Talk, they were never my thing either. Some of friends listened to them a lot but I just couldn't do it. Bring the downvotes because Sowing the seeds is a pretty annoying tune after about the 3rd time you hear.

I understand that statement. I was always changing the radio station or switching off MTV every time they were on. I honestly don't know of many guys that actually liked them back in the 80's.

TFF was not for everyone. The Hurting is one of those albums that I still enjoy listening to front to back and is one of the best albums of the entire decade. Even better than Songs from the Big Chair.

I put it as one of those 80's act that either you like or don't. It's not they aren't talented musicians and good songwriters, I just didn't get into them. When I mocked Tears they ridiculed me back for liking XTC or Echo & The bunnymen type thing.

So it wasn't the band as much as not my thing.

Is Mad World 10x more popular now than it was when it was released? I believe it is.

Along with The Fixx, Comsat Angels, The Chameleons, and The Sound...oh and early Simple Minds...not a doubt in my mind that TFF were the best that no one really received well unlike the bigger explosions of INXS, early U2, New Order, et al. TFF was as big as any of them, but only because of one GIANT song and about 3-4 really big ones.

I like em. Melodious, esoteric. Just good pop music

and how. TFF was (and actually still is in some ways I think) ahead of its time. With the new hipster 80s retreads abounding, TFF still stands out as sophisticated novel-sounding music.

I'd say the same about The Cure (and the Smiths of course, in large part due to Johnny Marr's genius). So many other things I loved as a kid and go back and listen to sound silly and dated. Especially from the 80s.

they (MTV and radio) played that sound into the ground, and the extended version is a tad tedious, i do admit. oh, and that was obviously later TFF and seemed geared for big radio play.

Speaking of Tears for Fears, what was up with the ending of "Head Over Heels"? That little outro was like the best song they never actually made.
