Haven’t listened to them in a long time but put on How It Feels To Be Something On last night and it’s so damned good. Diary too, but I like How it feels more.
Anybody else like em? I know they got the emo label on em but to me they feel like something different. The lack of black eyeliner and hair dye for instance, lots more melody, etc.
My son was liking it too. 100 Million, The Prophet, How it Feels, Pillars, Song About an Angel etc. I could tell it seemed up his alley.

they were part of 2nd wave emo scene. the eyeliner and hair dye was 3rd wave with a mix of pop punk in it.
SDRE are one of my favorite bands. jeremy is a hell of a songwriter.

Yeah I don’t like that part. Not a fan of punk and it seemed like emo was all about punk from what I remember, or at least the era when it was all over the place. SDRE doesn’t really sound "punk" at all to me which is another reason I separate them in my mind to the stereotype of emo,

I always like The Rising Tide as well, even though it doesn't seem to get much love.

Pillars is in my personal top 10 songs.

Love this band. I can’t believe it’s already been eleven years since their reunion tour.

“Seven” is one of my all-time favourite songs!

Top 5 band name ever.

I'd rather listen to the band Real Estate, while driving around on a sunny day.

They are awesome. I used to listen to them all the time, but then years passed and I kind of forgot about them. Found their albums again not too long ago and put them in for a listen. Still as good as ever. They were what I consider “real” emo, and not the stupid pop groups that came later. You can put together every emo song written since the turn of the century and combined they don’t have half as much emotion as “Song About an Angel.”

Agreed. I think emo has a bad stigma because of the douchbag bands that followed with the eyeliner and black hair dye and all that mess (not to mention crappy cookie cutter pop songs). SDRE is something different all together
